The sun is ironically, for me, a symbol of both optimism and also the ultimate symbol of impermanence. Although the sun rising and setting each day seems the most reliable thing in the world, the sun, like all of us, is impermanent and destined to change and die. I also appreciate the life-giving nature of the sun and hope, as the sun gives life at this time, that I can give of myself to others during my time here on earth. |
