I've never really thought about getting a tattoo before. I'm not really able to tolerate a lot of pain first of all. If I got one I wanted it to have meaning. And when I saw my best friend's dolphin tattoo I started thinking about it. Over 2 years ago I lost a baby through miscarriage.
Pictue of me gritting my teeth a little, it kinda hurt at
first! LOL
My husband and I had been trying with no luck. We did fertility drugs and were so thrilled to find out we were going to have a baby. You can imagine how devastated we were when our baby died.

When I started looking at tattoos on the internet I found unicorns, butterflies, you know girly stuff. And then I saw some angels and knew that's what I wanted. Something to remember my baby, I even considered adding the date I lost him or his name. But I didn't want questions from strangers, I wanted this to be a personal way of giving a memorial to my child.

I asked my best friend to come with me for support and she decided to get a tattoo at the same time! It was so much more exciting that way. She wanted a butterfly armband and she found a really cute one on the internet. The second time we went in to look at the flash on the walls I found more angels, I had missed them the first time. And this cute little angel with the name HEATHER above it. I knew that was the one I wanted, minus the name of course;)

Today we got our tattoos done. I was soooo nervous! I mean this is permanent, it's going to be there forever. But more then anything I was afraid of how much it would hurt. And don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be one of those people who lies and says "it didn't hurt at all, no sweat". Sure it hurts!
Picture of me during the tattoo process, once I got
used to it, it was smooth sailing baby!
But it's not this excrutiating pain where you want to cry. It actually starts to get numb after a while. It took about 45 minutes and it seemed like it went by really fast! My tattoo cost 67$ and I gave him a 3 dollar tip, probably not the best tip in the world but I think it's important to give them a little something.

About 4 hours later I took off the bandage, it looks so cute! I washed it off with warm soapy water and I'm supposed to put that A&D ointment on a couple times a day for 8-10 days. I'm totally in love with it and I don't think I'm going to regret my decision. If you're thinking about getting a tattoo my advice to you would be to think about it for a long time. I looked at tattoos for about 2 months and thought long and hard about where I wanted it and everything. I chose my arm because I read it hurts least there. Also I wanted to be able to cover it up for work(I'm a nursing assistant). While I had the bandage on, it was stinging but now that I've taken it off it doesn't even hurt!

I'm already thinking about my next tattoo! Probably on my ankle, I might even get my husband's name on the next one:)

My tattoo healed in 4-5 days!! Wowy huh?
