I became an artist because:
I was able to draw since I was very young, but getting into cartooning/comics was extremely difficult, expensive (College), and didn't seem too interesting. I started drawing tattoos for friends while I was enlisted in the Army. At the time, I was stationed in South Carolina (1994ish?), and tattooing was illegal in the whole state, so if anyone wanted to get tattooed... it was a hike. After a few guys made a multi-hour drive, they found out getting a tattoo "drawn from scratch" was RARE. So I started drawing them up, and when I got home for good in 99', I started looking for an apprenticeship.
