Hey, don't hate on my city. Everyone knows all the crazies are from Florida anyway.Tattude wrote:No way! It's a clean, (compared to the rest of the North East), convenient, city that is packed full of cool stuff to do. It’s no Orlando or Boston but it sure beats the hell out of most of the other cities on the East…
I hate Charlotte, Atlanta, Pittsburg, New York, New Jersey, for dirty various reasons… lol
Also, am I just being stupid or are there no good conventions coming to Atl?
ATL doesn't need any good conventions because 80% of all great artists LIVE in that area! lol
They want to travel, not walk out their back yards. haha

I'm going to my first convention--that's right, I'm breaking away from the family and going out on my own!!! It doesn't happen often but when it does, it usually involves tattoos...
March 14-16 in Worcester, MA--tho I don't know which day(s) I'll be going yet. If anyone else is going to be there, look me up...

Good point, haha. There are a ton of great artists in Atl. This is why I can't for the life of me understand why my friend is going to get ink from Kat Von D.Tattude wrote:ATL doesn't need any good conventions because 80% of all great artists LIVE in that area! lol

I mean, why pay way too much, fly across the country and possibly pick up an infection when you have all the talent we do around here? Oh well.
Your friend is an idiot!

Me and girlfriend will be at the Baltimore Convention, February 8th-10th. I might be bringing some friends along, likewise with her. Anyone looking to party/hit some bars, send a private message and let's get together.
I'll have my rib piece done that Friday before the convention aswell......will be a sight to be hold.
Hope to hear from some of you.

I'm a newbie, therefore I'm an idiot when it comes to anything involving tattoos (even though I have two, both were done 13 years ago with a single needle=homemade tattoos).
There's this convention coming about 10 minutes away from me:
February 15-17, 2008
6th Annual Ink Travelers Tattooing & Piercing Convention
I'm interested in getting a tattoo and I e-mailed the e-mail address. She told me quote "there will be almost 100 tattoo artists and piercers working - doors open at noon each day and close at 10pm"
Then I saw in this thread that some days are limited to only tattoo artist? I'm confused. Can I walk in, look around and get a feel of artist, art work before I pick who I should have working on my tattoo or do I need an appointment? How would I know who to make an appointment with if I don't know anybody?
I see their tattoo artist on this site, are their any recommended that will be at this convention? Is there any shop that's recommended in Oregon? I googled and found a shop and artist I think would be great but well, you know, googling, lolz.
Am I asking too many questions about this convention? Sorry for sounding so newbieish.

You can do BOTH... Appointments are best espeically with more well known artists but I've gotten in with BIG named artists before just walking up to the both.
Get there Thursday or Friday.

Internet...MOST really well known artists have online portfolios to look through.
Go to google and type in any of those names and then tattoo.badabing wrote: I see their tattoo artist on this site, are their any recommended that will be at this convention??
BEST thing to do is fill up the gas tank and hit 4-5 shops in your area. LOOK through ALL their portfolios before making an appointment. It sounds like you don't know GOOD work if it hit you in the face.badabing wrote: Is there any shop that's recommended in Oregon???
ALSO, read the convention sticky
Thanks for your reply. I'm just getting the word "Faith" done (in cursive) so I don't think I need to find somebody with a great portfolio but there is one person I'm interested in. But his site doesn't mention anything about conventions, only purchasing his prints.
Please note: some of the convention information up here is incorrect.

I've lived in ATL for almost a year now, and I've thought this to be true. I'm looking to apprentice and I spoke with one artist who told me "you might want to move to a city where Tattooing is more prominent, like LA" and in my head, I'm thinking we've got some really good artists & shops in the city, why move to LA and deal with High Rent, earthquakes, LAPD, fucked up Gun Laws, and gangs. LOL!SweetSubversive wrote:Good point, haha. There are a ton of great artists in Atl.
