First post, Hi.
I have no tattoos, no piercings, a bunch of scarification from my highschool days, and that's about it
So, this is what I have so far - it's blurry 'cause my digi died and I had to take the pic with my webcam, and, it's done in pencil.
This is my husband's version of it - his is the original. He designed it when he was 15, got it inked at 18 when he joined the military. Now, all these years later, I'm going to get my version of it tattooed somwhere.
My overall idea is to do a mix between a family crest and a fairytail scene like except without it looking so frolicking in the meadow esque. The crest would take place of her face - and of course the ivy will be all my own work if I can get it looking right.
I'm not too happy with it as is - I think the checkers are too much, perhaps if I work them into just a portion of the shield - like around the edges, or, by just not checkering around and behind the B's.
I, also, might use Viking blades rather than the generic claymores he used.
These are a few things I can't decide on: what type of vines to use around the outside - tiny ivy or leafless rosevines (I guess that would be considered a bramble)
And I need to put something in - multiple of 4 - for the children, but what? The only thought I had was to put in four seperate vines - one on each side, and have those all twisted together.
The top of his has a sun - which I don't like. For one, his tatt was not professionally inked - so it turned out vague. And that had a specific meaning to him that I don't share - so something else for me, but I have no clues. I'm considering leaving the top alone and just having the vines curl down a bit.
Overall size, on paper it's 4.5" long and 3" wide - too big for my arm so I think I'm going to put it on my back - but, upper or lower? Which is more femenine?
I don't wear anything that shows off my lower back - I suppose I could buy some tops that would do just that, though.
Comments, suggestions?

| He will, I'm putting so much detail into this first one because it's going to go in with my husband's collection of first sketches - we're getting them framed to add to our art in the pool room. That's the only reason why I'm putting so much time into it. |

It sounds like you have an idea, so keep running with it. As far as the checkers go, why don't you concider using bigger checkers, like 4, one for each kid. As far as placement, back is where I'd like to see it, I think it would look better centered between the shoulders, that's my opinion and it's your back so good luck with it and post your pics when done.
I'm gonna have to say as stated above, go talk to ur artist. have them draw it up. You can and should disagree if you don't like it, never get anything if your not satisfied with the finished drawing. |

Well - I took that advice -from both of you - and he said he'd be more than pleased to work up a pencil sketch for me to frame and the final for inking...Just a tad extra for the pencil work- but it'll complete our wall of home-made flash.
Nice idea for the checkers, thanks - I think that'll be good at the bottom instead of the vine thing I started doing.
Thanks for the input |
