Just curious. Anyone here into any music other than grunge/rock?
I play jazz saxophone and piano...
I know I am bored at work and have nothing to do but post randomly on ET... |

I play the harmonica because I'm awesome. Actually I just didn't really take to anything else, I used to play the Alto Sax but gave it up because I was really terrible.
I really like jazz and blues and if you're into that sort of thing then you should check out some friends of mine Ike Stubblefield and Grant Green. They are both super accomplished and amazingly talented. Ike plays a B3 Hammond Organ and Grant is a guitarist. They'll blow you away if you haven't already heard of them. |

Huge fan of Clapton (cream of clapton, derrick and dominoes, you name it) I know he's got rock in him but a lot of it is real bluesey. Also a big fan of BB King. But I can't help being into metal! |

Yeah, I first met them when they played regular gigs at a bar I used to work at and I got to know them pretty well over time. They're still doing weekly gigs together in Atlanta |

I listen to a lot of singer/songwriter, folk, and acoustic based stuff...Bob Dylan (of course), Mike Doughty (his solo stuff since Soul Coughing disbanded), Damien Rice, Kathleen Edwards, Kalai (his Acousticism album is one of my all time favorites), and more recently Glen Hansard.
I'm really into the post-rock movement stuff; bands like Mogwai (check out the soundtrack they did for the Zidane documentary...fucking amazing), God Is an Astronaut, Hammock, The Album Leaf, This Will Destroy You...
I must admit I do listen to a lot of electronic shit as well...Crystal Method is one of my favs, Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, etc _________________ "Be sincere; be brief; be seated" - FDR |

Does metal count?
I listen to a shit ton of metal, anything from grindcore to system type stuff.
I'm a big fan of Johnny Lang, and I used to go to a shit ton of musicals. I'm not a drama kid or anything like that just got hooked after seeing Phantom, Momma Mia and Wicked within a month or so. It always made a nice night out with the old lady. I have some really, really gay shit on my external hard drive though... In a compition with a buddy. Hannah Montanna is winning at the moment, used to be Regina Spector (sp) _________________ People hear what they see - Oddisee |

my heart's in hip-hop and chill instrumental vibes (dj shadow, portishead, rjd2, etc) but, as a producer, i sample and listen to a lot of old funk, soul, blues, and jazz. and i played the alto sax for 10 years.
but there's inspiration everywhere. i dig into the sounds and feeling more than the boundaries of a genre.. . i'll listen to some metal and zoom in on a crazy bass line, some mexican psych rock and get amped off the guitars, drum-n-bass and appreciate the drum programming.. . whatever. |

| I'm a big fan of eighties freestyle and 80s/90s music like Prince, Michael Jackson, Salt N Peppa, etc. I also like some of the old school rap, Will Smith, Cypress Hill, etc. |
