anyone can list off john hughes movies, what about these often forgotten gems:

it's alright.... he's got tits (and what a set of tits!)

everybody knows that the dice are loaded... big ups to whoe ever produced this for not only shouting out leonard cohen and bad brains but coming up with that scintillating dialogue as well "jam me jack me push me pull me TALK HARD"

cru jonez' hallow legacy! This movie made me wanna go out and ride bikes until the sun came down. Not only is Adrien (from the Rocky movies) in it, as her usual whiny self but it's also got a ballroom montage featuring the hit song "Send Me an Angel" by Real Talk

often unseen, but those who did will remember this gem as the movie that features the lemon Lamborghini.

I think Thor randomly shows up in this movie... terribly good

christian slater ruled the 80s mostly because of this movie.. so damn good

I know most of you have seen it, but it's just too damn good not to mention

the movie you thought was enemy mine but actually way cooler

I'll post some more later on. I wanna see what other people come up with first

My wife loves "Pump up the Volume".....Me, not so much.....

"Labyrinth" is one of a number of great 80's "family fantasy" films, along with "Willow", "Legend", "The Neverending Story", "The Dark Crystal", and others. All of them are pretty outstanding IMO.

"Goonies" is the quintessential kid's adventure film. Not much can top it.

"Nothing But Trouble" was actually '91, but it's still great. it's a rollar coaster of a flik (both figuratively and literally)

"Summer School" is, honestly, one of my favorite films of all time, solely because, in high school, I felt COMPLETELY connected to Chainsaw and Dave (The "massacre" sequence is amazing as well)

ok, a few other great 80's fliks :

Did it get any better than this? Of course, it's painful to watch today, like all good 80's movies:

best fucking movie ever. The battle between Megatron and Optimus is epic.

The 80s belonged to George Lucas though. The Indiana Jones trilogy and the last (and best) two Star Wars movies. The awesomeness is almost impossible to quantify.

I'll always love this one though

Stephen King's non-horror work is probably some of the greatest of his career:

green mile
hearts in atlantis
shawshank redemption
the running man (lol)

I think the Shawshank Redemption is probably one of the best stories ever told. Not a really great movie artistically but told with enough poignancy and conviction that it's impossible not fall in love with it. You're dead inside if you don't like that movie.
