Yeah, the idea for the transition of the seasons was because son #1 was born in the fall, son #2, in the spring and son #3 in the summer. I thought it would add a really neat effect to see the same tree with leaves that illustrate the different seasons. Crazy colours in the fall, buds to leaves in the spring, full green leaves in the summer.
I think the mistake that I made, and it is becoming clearer and clearer to me is that I may have severly handicapped the artists creativity by laying out so many different things to include in the sketch.
I think if I said "family tree, i love colours, i love my family, i love detail and creativity and i love my family"...I probably would have received a much different sketch.
As I said earlier, this isn't the artists fault at all. It's mine. He did what was asked.
Anywho, I spoke to the shop today and explained my dilemma to the Office Manager. He was totally cool and suggested I send the artist an email explaining my thoughts and concerns.
In the email I will apologize, say it's my fault and naturally make sure I compensate the artist when the inking is complete for the extra time I cost him. |

Sent the email. Called the shop to tell the Office Manager to tell the artist to pick up his email. The artist picked up the phone. We had a great chat. He was totally about everything. I reinforced that I would pay for the mistake and new drawing.
Thanks for the help again all. I appreciate the constructive feedback.
I'll keep you posted. |

Hey everyone - I wanted to post a huge thanks to everyone who gave me constructive feedback on the first sketch.
The new sketch turned out incredible. The difference between the two is astonishing.
I am sappy in the best of times, but for something that is going on me for the rest of my life, I wanted to tell you how appreciative I am for your time in responding to my post(s).
Next time you run into a stubborn ass, who won't take your feedback, I want you to reference this post and illustrate how smart you guys are.
Yes, you told me so.
Thanks again. |

| You're getting it done at Sinful Inflictions correct? May we see the new sketch? |

I'll do one better, in another week or so, i'll post a picture of it - after it heals.
I had it done at Sinful last Friday. It was an amazing experience.
The artist - Rick, was totally awesome. Really nice guy and a true artist. The shading and detail are amazing. I look at it nonstop and it seems that each time I look at it, I see something new.
I would highly recommend Rick.
The other pieces that he has in progress are taped up in his work area and they look incredible.
I bought pizza for the shop and everyone was really appreciative. |

| I like it...seems a little different from most of the tree tats you see around, which is a good thing too. |
