Hey everyone, I'm Jhonny, I'm 23. and this would be my very first post here, and I'm sure you get a lot of newbie posts.

I wanted to make my own thread, because my case is a little bit specific.

here's the thing,
I'm from Lebanon (that's all the way in the middle east, for geography-noobs), and I'm taking a 3-week vacation this July to travel to USA to see some friends/family, buy myself a nice MacBook Pro, go to Cedar Point, Ohio... AND get my first tattoo on my right leg. I still haven't decided on what to draw, or how big it will be.

do you think it's wise to do a tattoo during my 3-week stay in USA? I'll be traveling a lot within the country. I'll be staying in Albany, New York for a week, then going to Sandusky, Ohio to have some real fun in Cedar Point, and then I'm gonna spend the last week in Portland, Maine, visiting some old friends. But my schedule is flexible if I get to do the tattoo.

so here are my questions:
when do you think it's best to do it? as soon as I arrive or before I come back home?
and where do you think I should choose as a location of the shop?

I'd do it as close to the end of your trip as possible. It's just gonna interfere if you get it mid trip.

And Cedar Point is awesome. Been there 20+ times in my life. Maybe way more. Kicks ass...

You have absolutely no concept of what you want to have done yet? Size and content make a huge difference; and seeing as you're travelling all the way from Lebanon; you're going to want to get it completed in ONE sit...how's your pain tolerance? Smile

Make sure to call as soon as possible, and put your deposit down via money order or bank transfer or such.

agree with both of the above.......

you'll want to wear loose fitting pants that do not rub against it during the first week or so, jeans do not work well for me,,,,,,,

post up a picture of something that resembles what you ar thinkg of,,,,,,,,,,

if you have no idea at all, just go into a decent shop and pick a piece of flash off the wall....

Agree with this and the other posts.
I've only been to Cedar Point once a few years ago but it was incredible. There was one coaster where I thought I'd be flung out into Lake Erie. We went to the rock and roll and pro football hall of fames while we were in the state.

thank you guys for all your replies!! after rethinking my whole strategy, I thought it's wiser if I do it here in Lebanon, because cramming my tattoo in while I'm traveling and visiting, or just before I take a 14 hour flight is not a good idea.

So, I researched a little bit about some artists here in Beirut, Lebanon, and by far almost everyone is recommending this guy.

http://hadybeydoun.com/

can you guys please check out his website? I skimmed through his work and he seems really professional and artistic. But since I'm new to this, I need your help to see whether he seems good enough.

and about the actual tattoo, I'm pretty sure it's going to be on my leg/calf, (not sure if right or left), and about the design, I'm going to start drawing some sketches myself, and I'll see what I'll come up with...

i wouldn't say that they are amazing or anything. seems like they specialize in cover ups. looking through those pictures makes me never want to get plastic sugery and looking at the before pictures of tattoos people have is hilarious. definately makes it worth a look.

Yeah. A lot of tribal and a lot of flowers, but I guess that's probably a clientele thing. I definately wouldn't be getting any portraits done there. A lot depends on what you want to get . . .

You'll pass right through Buffalo while traveling from Albany to Sandusky. Check out Cory and Christopher at Divine Machine.

Most people on here are into high end custom tattoos. But Every city in America has a very good street shop that can do solid work in more than likley the American traditional style, which is solid and bold without the fofo artsy stuff. It only really takes a two days to get the icky gunk off, after that a tattoo will be dry and travel ready. Portland is a tattoo Mecca, so you shouldnt have a problem there. Enjoy your trip

Allentown, PA ... Can you name one? I haven't found one yet. :/ If you want a bag of crack though, there are plenty of options.
