There's se spots he shook a little and a couple nice blowouts. But the dudes 80 years old and still doin what he loves. And without guys like Stan and Eddie and Lyle. We wouldn't be here chatting casually about tattoos. These guys paved the road with hammers literally fighting for tattooing. Moving from city to city opening shops until it got legalized. So to have the oportunity to get tattooed by a guy that made my favorite hobby what it is today is more important than if it's an award winnig tattoo. It's old school done old school with an old school 1930s jonesy by an old school artist. I can't be happier with it.

Fuck yeah! It's not my style but their work dates back to when there weren't 'different styles', just different artists and different designs. There's a whole lot to respect about that. I would love to talk to them about how they see some of the new artists today.

yea i showed lyle tuttle a portrait tattoo my friend did of my bird and he just kinda goes meh cool and went on to talk about something else but he liked my old school eagle across my stomach. i don't think the old guys see the realism standing the test of time. they made the designs simple and bold, because one they're tools were far less superior than they are today, and I'm sure it partly has to do with the people that were getting the tattoos were rough and probably weren't taking care of the tattoos so being bold and simple made them look normal after they healed.

to me it sounds like a bunch of bitter old men that are upset that the times have passed them by... sorry but the artists today far surpass anything that the old schoolers do, but that's typcially the way things go... new techniques creates new art...

we can still respect the older stuff, but the things people are doing today trumps the "traditional" stuff to me...

its like comparing a 67 mustang to a 2012 cobra gt, or a 42 mb willys jeep to a 2012 rubicon. yes one far surpasses it in quality and talent. but they both have they're place. thats why they make different designs, because every one has their right to something different. but without the old timers paving the way and fighting the battles they id we wouldn't have any of it. they're not bitter they just don't see it as tattooing. they don't like tattoos on necks or hands ether because they say that should be reserved for genuine bad asses not just any body.

Yeah i see their viewpoint completely... and a location of a tattoo doesn't automatically grant anyone "badass" status... wink

I personally just am not a fan of the traditional tattoos... yet i would take a 67 'stang over the late model Cobra... wink

Is that like spending a fortune on an amazingly detailed generic skull tattoo that has no meaning other than it is exceptionally well-done?

No, it's refering to only appreciating new-school tattoo design and not understanding or appreciating traditional tattoos or where tattooing came from.

you dont have to like traditional tattoos for your body, but you dont have any appreciation for them at all? i personally love the simplicity and think they are beautiful. Smile but everyone already knows that. and why can't they have just the same amount of meaning behind them? what makes more detailed pieces have more meaning?

I appreciate it all. The only thing I can't really get into is the sick and twisted b&g stuff. I can appreciate the quality. But I don't get it. I love traditional obviously but I'm getting a portrait of philadelphia Eddie tmrw. Should be funny to see his reaction. Hell prolly tell me I'm retarded

I personally prefer the way old school looks over new school. i mean the colors in new school is awesome, but old school looks better to me. i would be honored to be tattooed by one of these guys!! Very Happy
