Just got the below tattoo about 4 weeks ago. I am very happy with it but I am thinking about adding to it. Some of my thoughts are maybe adding more detail and some color in the eagle (yellow feet and beak, red tongue, white head, some accents in the feathers...). Is it difficult to add color on top of a B&G tattoo? I think it needs something on top between the wings like a stars-and-stripes shield, or a sunrise. Thoughts?

hmmm... there is quite a bit of shading so I am not sure how well color could be added. I would get a consult with an artist, but my recommendation would be to leave it as is and maybe just work on the background or the space between the wings like you suggested.

color shouldn't be a problem. its better when its planned to do that before hand, but most the shading would have been done the same. i like the sunburst idea.

I'm going back to the original artist tomorrow afternoon. Just looking for some ideas to make this even bigger and better. What other background stuff might look good? I'm also going to have him touch up the bulldog on my chest.

what I meant was that he has a lot of grey shading in the areas that he wants to add color, like the feet. How can he add yellow to the feet when it is already shaded grey? I'm honestly not sure, but I thought that might be a problem.

Or instead of adding color, just add more detail overall and maybe build up some background. My goal is to eventually have almost all of my shoulder/deltoid covered (everything from the top of the wings to the scroll). Is there an industry term for that?

I was thinking about something like this in the space between the wings on top but in B&G. I actually really like the shield from the shop's logo with the arrows behind it. http://www.frontlinetattoos.com/

That is an idea, but I really don't want any tattoos in other locations.

no, its not a problem to add color over shading. i had my entire moth shaded before she put down the color, i'm pretty sure that's how most tattoo artists do color. shade, then color.
