|
|
Since I wanted to get on Gunnar's schedule in September, I just got in touch with him to get on his schedule (he said he just needs to lock in his kids school schedule, but looks like 1st or 3rd week in September).
Not knowing the exact tattoo yet, I asked him if he thought based on my idea the tattoo might require multiple sittings. Since I'll be travelling from Boston to Ohio, I'd prefer to have the tattoo done in one trip to save travel costs.
His response to me about multi day sittings was this (still not sure if it will be required or not): "Also, we can try and do multi day sittings, however I tend to find the body breaks down after a while due to the trauma and tattoos that are done in such a manner tend to heal a bit rougher. Two days is the most amount of time I suggest in a row on any given tattoo".
So is his response generally the one followed by most tattoo artists, or will opinion vary from artist to artist? |

I don't think I'll need multi day (unless Gunnar thinks so) but of course I won't know that until he lays down the initial artwork.
Tape monster idea - upper left arm to be covered by short sleeved shirt. Just not sure if bleedover to shoulder/pec will be needed. Again - Gunnar's choice. Although it was my choice to wait until the end of summer, I still hate the waiting. |

leaving so much of the idea and space open to Gunnar (which is a great idea, btw) pretty much leaves the possibility likely for multiple sessions - or at least 2.
I'm psyched for you! |

Gunnar can easily finish that in one 8hr session. He works fast. I wouldn't recommend multi day sitting with him. 1. He doesn't recommend it. 2. He is very heavy handed. |

Ouch on the heavy handed. Sounds like I'll really earn my tattoo stripes sitting with him for a day
I just can't wait to see his rendering of my idea. |

I went for a highly respected artist so I would feel comfortable not micro managing the tattoo. This one should be special, and I am assuming maybe except for a tweak once I see his first drawing, I consider myself nothing more than a canvas for him to work on. All I plan on doing is planting the seed of an idea with him - it's his baby. That's why you go for the good artists. |

If anyone cares, the "idea" is a combination of the bottom one in the first picture, the right side of the 2nd picture, and the middle one in the 3rd picture. Those are the pictures I gave him in my email, plus the band logos of Led Zeppelin and Opeth. I explained in detail my thought of what I wanted. I'll let Gunnar do the rest.

You should be good on the shoulder. Nothing like the wrist/forearm/elbow 9hr combo.
This tattoo is going to really badass. Please post up when you get it. |
