Hey everyone, the name's Sarah, I stumbled upon this site awhile ago and thought you guys were pretty cool so I thought I'd join!
To start off, I'm 18. Now all of you are probably thinking "oh no, not another 18 year old who doesn't know who he/she really is yet wanting a tattoo", but this isn't the case. My dad has a full sleeve on one arm and a half on the other and they're really cool pieces, but the point is I've been around tattoos for forever. I love how they can allow people to express themselves on their bodies.
A little bit about me: I love basketball and it's a huge part of my life. I have triplet siblings, one of which has Autism (one of the main reasons I want to get a tattoo). I enjoy playing the guitar, listening to music, watching movies, typical teenager stuff. And I guess that's pretty much it! Nice to meet all of ya! |

having a sibling with autism is no reason to get a tattoo.......... _________________ white by birth ,,,, trash by choice |

Leave her alone, people have gotten tats for much more ridiculous reasons. Who are you to say why one person should or shouldn't get one? _________________

so,,,,,,,,,, i have this friend who has an acutely autistic son........and she gets a puzzle piece on her wrist ........'cause it is the symbol for autism <sigh>
and years later we're talking about nothing in general and she says
"like i need this fucking thing to remind me that my kid is autistic, like i don't live with him every day" ....... _________________ white by birth ,,,, trash by choice |

it's not so much to remind me that he's autistic, but to remind me of how far he's come. from not being able to talk or function as a "normal" person to being the most outgoing, funniest, and smartest kid i know. and from that i know that even though things might seem dim at some point, they will eventually turn around for the better.
is that enough of a reason for you? |

you don't need my permission to get a tattoo,.....
but in a way your reason falls right back to my friends thoughts..... you already have all of these experiences with your brother....what is a tattoo going to add, unless ou want people to notice it, ask what it means, and then you can give the life story about your brother....
personally, i'd get a kickass bold color tattoo of something that my brother would think is cool, so that he will look forward to seeing it on you whenever you get together.... _________________ white by birth ,,,, trash by choice |

i would get a tattoo for your brother not for his disorder. a tattoo of something awesome he does, or something you share, or something he likes... _________________

No offense meant here but this is exactly why teenagers should not be allowed to get tattooed.
I have heard thousands of tattoo ideas from teenagers, myself included back when I was a teenager. Not one single one was a good idea. |

Here's the best advise for getting a quality tattoo you will always be proud to show;
1. Spend a lot of time checking out on-line portfolios.
2. Get familiar with the various tattoo (art) styles. Use this forum to aquaint yourself to the process and/or to filter out artists you are curious about.
3. figure out which artist('s) style(s) really speak(s) to you
4. tell that artist about the eventual subject matter, placement on you and then let that artist worry about the design. |
