my mother is paying for a tattoo for me for christmas.
my idea is a dream catcher between my shoulder blades and 2 thin cords intertwining down my spine and at the end 2 feather right before a pants line the kind you normally see on dream catchers they have the baby fuzz at the top its gonna all be in black. except blue that blends with the top and the beathers wil be very bold with blues and yellows and some orange.

im not very good at explaining it but hows that for an idea?

I'm worried about the "thin lines down the spine" part. I'm afraid that they will be too small to be able to see and your spine gives a natural shadow anyway, making it even harder to see. Other than that, if it's what you want (and will want a long time from now), go for it. Remember to post pics!

Thats not what he means.

What he means (correct me if I'm wrong Jay) that it's ridiculous that tattoos are so acceptable that moms are paying for their childrens tattoos.
He misses the days when tattoos were unaccepted by the majority of the population.

My hesitation is the placement only because it's a large section of your body you're committing to this design. You're cutting your back in half, which is fine if it's the only design you want there. Just take a second to ask yourself it you might ever want something that might be hindered by a such a large mid-back piece. Not to deter you, but maybe give you food for thought.

I paid for my daughter's first tattoo...but only after she did her homework of deciding on a design and locating a clean shop with the artist who would do the piece. She is very happy with what she got and the next one will be out of her pocket....she was 21 when she got her first one.

i dont plan on getting anything else on my back, so thats not a worry at all.
and i know i will still want this design when im older because a dream catcher was my first idea for a tattoo ever and it has meaning behind it for me.
and she actually works with a girl who's finance owns a tattoo shop and they recommended us to the best shop in the area to go to and its very clean and the artists are very talented.

My first tattoo idea with meaning makes me cringe when I think back on it. Just saying.
