Okay so I think some people on here know how much I like Horiyoshi III's designs and how much I LOVE trimxdvr's backpiece that is coming along so awesomely.
I've been looking for a stomach/rib piece for 6 months now anddd well I keep going back to Horiyoshi... and the following drawing of his fits the area I want to fill so well.
So I kind of love it, the idea... but I'm nervous for I guess the reason that I'm a girl (okay woman) and I'm slightly worried it's not appropriate for me? I'm petite and blonde and dorky and I'm kind of worried men will find this tattoo really really weird on me. I knowww it only really matters what I think, but not really. I would prefer not to freak anyone out when I get naked hahaha. That would suck...

i LOVE that drawing from horiyoshi lll and i think its perfectly fine for a female to have that on her body. personally, i would dig deep into (almost) any females mid-section with a tat like that.
who would be doing the work? if you are in the northern california area, you can have horiyoshi lll's senior apprentice do the work for you!

First thanks for the compliments..I have 10 hours on the 12th so hopefully will get allot done.
I love that piece (had even considered it for my rib piece). It really depends all on you. I know a cute little blonde that rides a shovel, she has a rib piece with skulls and demons, tell you what there is no one sexier than her when shes out...but she also caries herself and dresses in such away that it is all one little hot package. If she wore a summer dress out I dont think it would have the same effect. Now a girl in a summer dress with a more feminine tattoo would have the same effect....just my rambling thoughts.
Killer piece, if you've been going over and over in your mind and settled on that one...go for it, getting a tattoo is one of the greedier moments in life, you do it 100% for yourself...end result some will love it some will not, whats important is that you love it...all else is irrelevant. |

personally, i prefer a more-ribs-less-stomach placement (especially if you might get pregnant one day) but either way, assuming it's done well, it'd be a sweet piece on anyone.

More ribs as in higher up and more to the side, or smaller? I can kind of see that.. will have to play around with placement. Though as of now, I am not looking to ever be pregnant. But yeah shit could happen...
I colored it in photoshop, just color overlays. Fun stuff. Is the coloring okay? I like it in general, there will be tweaking of course..
And I don't know who will be tattooing it yet (or when exactly eek!) but preferably someone who specializes in Japanese subject matter and is excellent at color and shading....and linework of course. Will be looking around CT and NY area. |

if in NY you should try horizakura at ny adorned, he is a member of the horitoshi family or dana helmuth at brooklyn adorned. good luck!

No really the sketch looks great I cant wait to see it come to fruition. As for placement I agree with actualfact more ribs less stomach.

excellent template to use as a tattoo design. Obviously, the artist you choose is going to either make this piece magnificent or mediocore. If you find someone who is experienced, into the Japanese style, has a subtle hand.......Well, basically, if you find the Jesus of Nazareth of tattooing, this will kick ass.
I do not think it is akward or offsetting for a female at all. In fact, if I saw a nice dame on the beach or some such place with a tattoo of a similiar style and size, I would most definately be getting some digits (assume she liked my work  )
Do you have any pictures of anything completed so far? I would love to see 'em! |

I like the design and the colors. As for placement I think I would agree to go a little more toward ribs (ouch) than stomach. I also would not have a problem with this being on a female. As you know, I'm also from CT and although there's some good artists here I'm not sure their styles match what you want. Maybe try Jon Elliot at Greenman Studio in W. Hartford or Julio at Hope Gallery in New Haven, Joe Cap's place (not necessarily Julio's style but he's great at everything). I also really like the Dana Helmuth suggestion.

yeah, just rotate it out a little onto the ribs a little more (but thats gonna hurt like a bitch, no joke..ribs suck) but fully worth it when its done.
And i don't think there will be any problem with a petite blonde girl (women) having any kinda of tattoo..
Its gonna look amazing though, thats a sick ass drawging and you did an amazing job with the colors, looks perfect. |

Ya'll are crazy... The lower stomach/love handle area was way worse for me than the ribs. Just my 2 cents... Tattoo idea looks good....
