Ya'll are crazy... The lower stomach/love handle area was way worse for me than the ribs. Just my 2 cents... Tattoo idea looks good....

I'll second that, love handles are brutal...

I haven't really gotten around that area, but i have my lower hip area done and that does hurt a super lot..But i'm a pretty skinny guy so my ribs stick out, it hurt like hell on my upper rib region, was not fun at all and wouldn't do it again, glad i have both sides done.

And I don't know who will be tattooing it yet (or when exactly eek!) but preferably someone who specializes in Japanese subject matter and is excellent at color and shading....and linework of course. Will be looking around CT and NY area.

You may want to check out Marco Serio at Invisible NYC.

www.marcoserio.com

I have work from him and this is his forte, japanese traditional. I can vouch for him as an artist.

Probably true, but the placement looks better to me higher on the ribs. Plus the pregnancy thing's a good point--I never thought I'd have kids either (wanted 'em, but never thought I'd have a stable enough lifestyle), and now we're expecting our second in May/June!

And seriously; don't worry about whether the tattoo's girly or not. Go with what you want. I've known plenty of women who've oozed raw femininity and sex appeal who've had big, bad (in the good sense of the word 'bad' Wink ), evil tattoos.

If you're confident that what you want works with you, get it.
Anyone that doesn't get that probably isn't worth worrying about anyway.

why the delay? send an email asap! atleast you can get an idea if hes interested, how far out he is booked, or if hes even taking on new work.

I heard back from Marco Serio last night. He said he'd love to work with me! However he is booked till around fall so i'll be waiting quite a while. I think i'm okay with that. Sooooo I just wanted to post that because I was happy to hear back from him. Apparently he was out of the country for a while.

Yay. =)

Holy crap, that will be amazing! I'm definitely going to put in another vote for rib placement, though. I'm a woman and I would have no hesitation with that design if that's what I wanted.
