I had been talking about getting a new Sig Sauer 229. Well I got a hell of a deal on a 226 with night sights today. Barley used I paid $500 for it from my sons work. I go up and pick it up on Saturday. _________________

Man that's awesome. I've been bouncing around between sigs for a few weeks now. I'm going up state to a sig carrier soon to get a feel and try them out. I'm between 226 and 229 as well Gotta let me know how you like it man grats on the deal as well. |

| Nice job on the Sig purchase, which caliber is it? Does that particular model have interchangeable barrels for different calibers (.40/.357 Sig)? I'm curious how you like those night sights, especially in normal light use. That should be one solid, accurate, reliable firearm. I like the longer barrel on that as a range gun as opposed to the 229 unless you plan on carrying it regularly. Nothing wrong with the 229 either though. |

I know the 250 is completely interchangeable which seems rather interesting. I'm not sure if the 226 offers that, at least not in all models. I too am interested in the model |

| I have a Sig 239 in .40 and I know if I choose I can buy a .357 Sig barrel and mags to easily switch calibers. I'm not sure how the 250 works, it's pretty new I think and I haven't read too much about it yet. |

It is a 9. I couldn't pass up the deal. I had been looking at a cpo 229 in 357sig and it came with the .40 barrel also for $617. I still have my eye on it but I will have to start saving all over again. _________________

Whats so great about a sig? I never understood. I do think the XD is a decent pistol. I dropped my glock on concrete the other day... From torso-high or so, it didnt leave a mark on it.. These fucking things are tough. If that had been my 1911 it would have beat the shit out of it. I was an idiot for letting it hit the ground.
Is the accuracy supposed to be better on the sig? Trigger? I've handled sigs I just never saw what was the allure. |

From what I've read (granted, never handled a glock) they are a little bigger and clunkier ie smaller hands don't fit as comfortably. They also supposedly aren't as accurate as distance increases as many other pistols are. They are def. known for their stamina and durability though so I guess it is personal feelings. Glocks also have a great "name" to them reputation wise. |

I'm not saying I love a glock or anything. I bought 2 brand new 17's with night sights for $550.00 (a piece) I wanted a gun I didnt have to worry about surface rust on, or worry about tuning to run through mass amounts of ammo.
As far as accuracy goes. Off sand bags, mine will shoot 1 1/2" to 2" groups at 25 yards. (10 shots) Also, a bullet flys straight the same out of an austrian gun as it does an american/ german...whatever. If I get 1 1/2" to 2" groups at 25 yards shot through a chronograph at 1300 fps (115 gr) why would those numbers not be proportionally the same at greater distances?
Gun rags give out false information, and are deeply biased by advertisements. I think if they test one gun vs another (or if an author just doesnt like a paricular model) and there's advertising money at stake, you get info on a gun that is favoring whichever brand paid the most for full page ads. (thats business I guess) I mean shouldnt my glock shoot the same as a sig/springfield at 50 yds if we were both shooting equal groups at 25? |

For me it is all about how it feels in my hands when I'm shooting it. Hell the S/W m&p feels real good to me also but something in my head says a gun needs a hammer. At my local range for $20 you can shoot any or all of there guns, so I have shot a lot of different guns I just like the way the Sigs feel. _________________

On the Cpo (certified pre owned) any Sig dealer can get them. I have seen the prices vary by a $100 from dealer to dealer. The CPO program is ex cop guns that the cops trade in on new ones that are totally rebuilt by the factory.
On the 226 I just bought My son works at a pawn shop that is also a Sig dealer. _________________
