Yeah paddy, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. You're entitled to your opinion, and gonzo asked for it... but there's a difference between saying, "I don't like it" and "it looks like something my dog shat out." If it was an obvious piece of shit scratcher tattoo I'd say go ahead and bag on them, but there was thought put behind it and it was done professionally; You could've had a little more tact. Afterall, I'm sure you'd be offended if someone commented on your tattoos "get those ugly pieces of shit off the site."

Hey Gonzo, I know it doesn't feel good to get comments like paddy's original, but you really gotta take that stuff with a grain of salt. You'll get it on any forum...

the meaning of it to me was that Hunter considered it the freak power symbol. He used to say "I'm not at all embarassed at the use of the word freak" and thats always meant a lot too me. and i hear the quote at the end of the movie "Too weird to live and too rare to die" as well as "just another freak in the freak kingdom"; i get shivers. i identify with hunters philiosophy, personality and just over all his work that i needed to to something. this really means a lot to me and im going to wake up every day and be thankful that i got it. to know that a freak [hunter] like myself was increasingly successful

i had no idea what gonzo was until this tattoo, and spent a couple hours researching this...............very informative,

i can't believe that i never heard of it or him.....at least i will know what that symbol is if i ever run across it again...........

thanks

The Gonzo Fist, a two-thumbed symbol attributed to Thompson originally used as the slogan for his 1970 campaign for sheriff of Aspen, contains within the image a peyote button, the bud of a cactus plant that has hallucinogenic properties when ingested. The fist is combined with the word "Gonzo" styled to form the hilt of a sword.

It is art, and as art the symbol is open to interpretation. I like the opposable thumbs idea, and the both arms raised in protest above the head with serious change in the air idea, and the drug reference to gaining leverage over the manipulative psychology of modern journalism idea. Whatever it takes to see the box they have been keeping us in for the benefit of the corporate profits and the corporate state, just do it.

The idea is fucking awesome man. Hunter S Thompson was a genius; a hallmark of candour and integrity in an industry dissolving into a corporate controlled cesspool of political correctness, bureaucratic bullshit, and commercial bias.
Having said that I think this tattoo is pretty shit dude. It looks like a dog's breakfast.
Yeah it's unique and represents what you wanted it too but tattooing is not always about artistic representation. It's a medium that is almost entirely about appearance and as such I think a tat that looks like scribble is not a great tattoo.
My opinion though and you mentioned you're stoked with it so power to yah man.
