I am getting my first tattoo soon. It's going to be the word "Everchanging" across the top of my chest. I am going to be lifeguarding this summer and the last thing I want is for my tattoo to fade. I was wanting to know some tips to keeping my tattoo looking brand new. Also, I was wanting to know how much, if you were to guess it would cost. The artist I am going to have do it said around 150. I am just curious if this is a good price. I have photoshopped the tattoo onto my body with the exact size and relative position I want it. **I am going to bend the word down in the middle and keep the sides where they are**

Here is a detailed picture of the word I want.

i think it gives it a little more character if you curve the word instead of having it straight like that.

yeah i was actually thinking about that. have it curve kinda like a U shape eh? I want it to be high enough that if I were to wear a v-cut shirt it would show a little.

I agree with the above post. I'd bring the middle of the word down a bit, but keep the sides where they are.

Bad idea all around if you ask me.

It looks kinda interesting on paper, but as a tattoo it's going to look like someone's poor attempt to fix a pre-existing tattoo. Plus all those little lines are so close together that it will all blur together and be a total mess in just a few short years.

Find a tattoo artist who's lettering style you like and let them draft something up custom for you. It'll turn out much better.

Better yet, why don't you get something that will compliment your body and flow with it instead of detracting from it. One word across your chest like that does not flow at all.

So you are saying I should give him the image/word and see what he can come up with? And maybe bend the word or shape it to match my body?

to answer your first question...........the only thing that will make it last outdoors is to stop as much UV from hitting it as you can.......i don;t know how you guard, but i'd wear a tee shirt over it....but then what good is it if no-bodies seein' it???

so.... you're left with sunscreen........early and often.....

the picture looks kinda freckly .........if so. you probably are used to both the above.......

that being said, i;m not into the tattoo at all........but if you do it, take the others advise

Yeah def lots of sunscreen and what not. I was actually pretty cold though when I took that picture so I look really pale. So what don't you like about that tattoo though? Just curious. It's still an idea in progress.

From an artists point of view, I have to agree with Matt Crunk... It looks like somebody's sloppy attempt at lettering. Works well on paper, but on skin it'll look like somebody oopsed.

I would hope you gaurd with a shirt on.. Skin cancer is a bitch..... (Not to mention, you will stay much cooler with a shirt on...). Also, you should still wear sunscreen under your shirt, unless it is UV resistant, as sun gets through most light T-shirts..

Yeah def. I always wear sunscreen and what not, as you can tell by really white skin ha. I don't really lifeguard for the tanning, I do it for the chicas. LoL So basically I should scratch that drawing? Or do you think it would be better to keep it for "inspiration" because I want something with font similar to that.
