|
|
I have a Question regarding to the catholic rosary, if someone could confirm this knowledge below. Currently theirs 59 beads on a rosary, but along time ago it was said that it used to be 108. And now that only hindus and buddists with "a Mala" have 108. I was going to incorporate it into my tattoo, if i could get it confirmed, and am currently awaiting an answer from a religious source i asked, but wanted to see if anyone here already knew this. Below is the fact in question?
The original Catholic Rosary did contain 108 beads, it was "streamlined" down to 59. THe original rosary contained 10 decades of 10 "Hail Marys" (100 beads) and 8 "Our Fathers" for 8 beads which equals 108.
thanks for anyone who tried to help _________________ Dedication |

| I'm going to be a dick and say who gives a shit? Nobody is going to care whether your rosary bead tattoo is historically accurate. And if it's like a "am I gonna offend Jesus?" thing, I don't think the big guy is really going smite you if you're rosary bead tattoo is a little off. 108 little rosary beads sounds like a pretty big tattoo though man, you might want to streamline that badboy anyway. Personally I think the whole premise of rosary beads is fucking mega stupid but I'm not really overly religious. |

If you want to cram that many beads into your rosary tattoo, then the tattoo better be pretty sizable. I'd personally rather see someone do less beads with more room for details/lighting effects regardless of the accuracy of it. _________________ "Sometimes a Tattoo is Just a Tattoo. | i'll say go for it. but dedicate a large space for it and theme it aroud your faith. And arm piece could certainly hold the number of beads and be an interesting piece. |

haha no man im not getting 108 beads on me, im getting the number 108 shaded in the backround of a rosary and hands tattoo. yah 108 would be too much. im just clarifying the number. im waiting on a religious source to get back to me, but was seeing if anyone here knew. _________________ Dedication |
