You don't have to respond to discrimination. Sure, you could say, "Well, fuck you." But that'd be immature. You could look between your legs and check to see if there's a pair of nuts there. JK.
But seriously, you are what you are, and your tattoos become a part of you. In time, you and those who know you well will notice them as much as you do your nose.
And the others ... maybe they're jealous. Maybe they wish they had enough sack to get something bold, like a full sleeve or a neck piece. Or maybe they're just idiots. Who knows? Who cares? _________________ I'm killing time until time kills me.

Said best... And frankly, this is the way it should be... The work is nice though... _________________

Your arm looks great. It's worth it to hide it when you have to. There are a growing number of people that are wearing long sleeves out of embarrassment because they let their "buddy" fuck their arm up.
Yeah, Jay I live in the desert and I know it's hot but I hear people cry all the time that they don't want to tattoo their lower arm because they'll have to wear long sleeves. Like it's just pure hell wearing long sleeves. Pussy's I tell you. I don't get it. If you want it bad enough you'll do whatever you have to do to wear it. |

Not to mention, buy the right mateial and weight of clothes for where you are at. In the sun, you will be far cooler covered up in light material than with skin exposed. I have fished tournaments on the great lakes when it was 100 degrees+ on a boat for two staright days. There is nothing to block the sun out there. You are cooler covered than shirtless.... _________________

I really appreciate all the good feedback you are all giving. Just to set the record straight, I'm not complaining about the attention I get, good or bad. Just learning to deal with the negative for the first time.
More people in my life appreciate tattoos then don't. I just wasn't sure how to deal with the negative comments since it's really the first time I experienced it.
I have had two small tatts on both of my forearms for several years. So I have gotten used to long sleeves for job interviews and whatnot. Doesn't bother me a bit.
It does really make me feel better though hearing your stories and suggestions. I can tell that at one time or another, everyone experiences some discrimination because of tattoos. And it appears that everyone gets used to it, and learns to not let it get to them.
I lived in southern California for awhile where tattoos were much more accepted and a part of the culture than where I live now. Having them is just who I am. And everyone else can just accept it or go away. |

| Just smile and laugh a lot. People forget about the tattoos. Or wear long sleeves. I wear long sleeves because I don't want my ink getting burned up, not so much to keep people from seeing the ink. |

| WOW, it looks totally awesome!!! Yeah my family and friends were the same, I just told em I like it so I got it. You get your tattoo for yourself not for other people thats when the problems come in. Like when I was seventeen I asked not told, asked my aunt when I was old enough Could I get a Tattoo.Replied yes (probably cos that time I had a fear of needle) lol. Came home from Uni when I was 19 and showed my family my new tat. Boy the look on their faces, pricless. Came home one time again with my next one and she went mental but the rest of my family thought it looked brilliant and so far its my fave. Similar thing happened with my lad. He likes my tattoos but he doesnt want me getting more. So by the time I see him next week I will have a nice surprise for him. Its your body and your life and we don't live long so enjoy it. The worst that could happen is when your an old granda they will be a lil faded and wrinkly but the grandkids will think your cool. LOL. Thats what I think. |

| I cannot wait for the day when tattoos are totally acceptable. I already have both arm sleeves planned out, unfortunately, I'm a gym teacher, and I'm not about to start wearing long sleeves all day. |

| I have a hard time calling it discrimination in regards to tattoos. It's your own decision to be tattooed. |
