you do realise that first ones photoshop right? It's brown, yes it's possible but it'll probably look pretty shitty after a couple of years, black is a much safer option.
the second photo you posted isn't Maori. it's amixture of different polynesian designs. Samoan, tahitian etc.
If you get Maori work it'll be Kiri tuhi, skin art. It's basicly Maori tattoo's for white guys. it has a few generic meanings but these change depending on who you talk to. It's more or less just to look pretty.
True Ta Moko tells the story of your ancestors, tribe, whanau, mountains blah blah... and pretty much only applys if your born or married into a tribe.
Don't copy Ta moko designs you see online. true Ta moko is very personal to the person wearing it. _________________ http://badtaste.deviantart.com

Someone brings that stupid photoshop pic into the shop I work at AT LEAST once a week and asked "Dude, how much?!?!?!"
I just don't get it. Beyond that fact that it's a photoshop job, it just doesn't have a nice flow and reeks of all things "wasted space" _________________ "Sometimes a Tattoo is Just a Tattoo. | yeah... bad idea. No brown, if you're going to get some stupid tribal at least get it in black. Also, if you have to look up the meaning online, you probably shouldn't be getting it. Come up with something original. |

Thanks for the helpful reply.
Like I said... I'm all new to the concept.
I'm kinda white (asian tanned) but I don't want a black tattoo because it's too obvious in my opinion. Does a brown tattoo really get ugly after a few years? What about all the color tattoos (japanese koi and stuff)?
I don't really care about the thought of Maori, I just like the design... I hate tribal though, maybe you should read my startpost again FORK
What design forms are more like Maori? open structure... I want to reveal skin, don't like all color etc.
Thanks guys! |

I'm not an artist, but I have seen that picture probably at least 5 times this year.
You should first figure out what type of tattoo you like and would want, kind of sounds like your not sure. Take your time to do research then find an artist capible of doing it. Good luck. |

| LOL i've seeen that photoshop picture EVERYWHERE. I dont think dark brown would be that bad, it'll fade faster than black but i think if you were to get that generic tribal over your whole body dark brown wouldnt look bad. |

I actually found a guy on checkoutmyink just last night that had the basic outline of that piece and was in the process of filling it in. Nowhere near that physique though. Sad attempt. _________________ ~Stacey Sharp

Every Maori style tattoo means something. Therefore, there is little meaning in getting one done for showing off. Maori designs express your inner feelings and reflect on your soul. Most of the people who get them done want to express something significant associated with their lives through these tattoos. |
