No-one is "asking for him"... Why don't you be honest for once and tell him you're on an internet message forum with a bunch of american wankers, and they all think he's an over-rated douchebag.. Then you can finish going down on him... |

This might be the dumbest statement you've ever made on here, and that's really saying something, cause everything you say is fuckin retarded. U2 fuckin sucks balls. It has nothing to do with your faggy country or you personally being an asshole, it's just that their music sucks... I've been a rock fan forever. It's not like I'm into 2000's pop shit. I just think Bono and U2 are the most overrated "musicians" ever.. |
Agreed |

I don't know, but I just looked at the itunes current top 100 downloads and nay a U2 song on it. I mean, Neil Diamond is getting Sweet caroline downloaded more than Bono... U2 might be the super-shiz-nille in paddyland, but in america, where we have choices beyond bagpipes and Bono, we recognize the turd under the mullet and behind the cheezy sunglasses. _________________

Nope. Unfortunately, it's my wife.
I actually like U2, but they are far from the biggest band in the world. Maybe 20 years ago they could have claimed that.
Their latest album does absolutely nothing for me and the concert I saw a couple a weeks ago was far from the best I've seen them do. I still like them, but speaking objectively, they've passed their prime. _________________ "The creation of mankind was the act of an egomaniac, plain and simple"

Yeah but it all went downhill from there. They were good but not legendary. Possibly the most over hyped band of all time |
Nope, Nirvana is. U2 still sucks IMP, however we did send my mom to the show the other evening. She liked it but she said she wouldn't pay to see them live again. |
Nirvana had more of a social impact then a musical one. While I personally love their music, from an artistic point of view it wasn't groundbreaking. What Kurt Cobain did was succinctly and accurately encapsulated the feelings of a whole generation in his music. He gave generation X a voice; a morose, disaffected voice |

Dan, while I understand that aspect, people my age (22) still speak of them as if the music its self was well produced. The meaning of it has lost its base as those who it applied to are now adults in their 30s and (hopefully) established in their life.
More or less when some 19yr old kid tells me the are the greatest band ever I just wanna kick him in the face. _________________

I was all over that whole scene. I was like 26 years old and playing music. I am Generation-x. Hind site I don't think it was that great of a thing. Yeah, he had a voice. A lazy, whiny one. He taught us that you can make it without trying. You didn't need to practice your instrument or perfect your performance. Now we have thousands of bands following that model. It doesn't seem many are trying as hard anymore. We've turned into a culture of "It's cool to be down and disturbed." To quote Ben Folds, "Unearned unhappiness." That said, I think Kurt was great writer, he really was. But like many great writers he was not a good model to be speaking for a generation. He didn't speak for all of us. Bukowski is a great writer, but a drunken asshole. It's been twenty years since "Bleach" was released. The thing I enjoy the most about Nirvana today, is Dave Grohl. |
