My name is my user name, Mike if you can't figure it out.

I'm here because I've been looking for a good tattoo forum because I want to start working on future tattoos and would love a place where I can ask opinions, get ideas, get feedback, etc. Hopefully I've found that place.

Anyway, I've filled about quite a bit of my profile so info should be there, but a quick run through...I'm 26, married, have 2 children (one is 16-months old and the other would be 2.5 years old, but she will forever be an angel).

My tattoo (I only have one so far) is a memorial for my daughter who was born 7.19.07 and passed away 7.20.07. She was born with HLHS and multiple complications prevented her from having the heart surgery she needed. She survived 21 hours after birth.

Here's a bad pic of it (I will eventually replace it with a better pic when I have time)...it was done a little over a year ago:

I am here because I want to work on the next couple tattoo's. I would eventually like to get something for my father who was 56 when he passed away in 2006, but that will come later. Right now I would like to focus on my son who's 16-months old and another "pair/set" of tattoos. My first tattoo is on my left arm as you can see in the pic above. I'd like to get one for my son on the opposite arm. I would also like to get two single words tattooed on the back of my arms (tricep area or whatever you want to call it). I want these to have meaning to me in terms of family...I was originally thinking of opposite words, but a lot of them don't work in case I try to incorporate the other tattoos (son and daughter's) into the theme...because I've thought of dark and light, heaven and hell, young and old, dead and alive, etc...those are generic ideas to get the ball rolling, but if I have one on my left arm that goes with my daughter's, then the opposite arm doesn't quite seem to work..don't want heaven on her side and hell on his side (although in some respects it might work). I'm not looking to have these words be opposites, but that was one idea I had...not looking for them to be religious either. I have Polish ancestry and was considering getting whatever words I decide up on Polish writing (depending upon what I choose and whether I like the looks of them in Polish).

I apologize for such a long intro, but I figure the more info I post, the more help and feedback I can get as to where to start with these...they've been driving me crazy for a while now, but I have a type of "writer's block" that won't allow me to move past the very basic ideas. I'm not artistic in any sense of the word and would appreciate any design help I can get as well.

Thanks.
Mike Maciazka

1.) Don't ever use your first and last name as an internet username. Just a bad move. People are crazy and the internet is full of them.

2.) You look like you have alot of canvas. I think your left arm is as big as my upper body.. Could get expensive.

3.) Don't get an entire body suit of memorial tattoos. Or atleast dont spell every one of the out. Theres tons of awesome imagery out there. Spend some time here hanging out, reading and browsing....

Welcome..

Welcome, sorry for the losses you've experienced. Like has already been suggested, stick around and do some browsing and reading, some people actually get something out of being here.

I appreciate the advice and I appreciate the concern with giving out personal info, but I only have my name listed. If someone wanted to find me, I have a listed address and phone number, but so do many other people. I am not stupid enough to put more info out there than that.

Again, thanks for the welcomes.

I have been working on designs for a tattoo...I wish I could draw...don't want to waste someones time at a tattoo parlor around here as I'm not able to get the tattoo right now (no funds at the moment), but here's my thought...

As you can see my last name is Maciazka...it's Polish. I love my heritage and have "Polish Pride"...I was thinking about a modern twist to a Polish Eagle in black and gray scale only. And, in it's talons it would be holding a heart(actual heart). The heart would be full color and represents my father...he died from an aortic aneurysm. I don't want to make it a memorial piece so it won't have his birth/death dates or initials/name, but I want him to be a part of it and could explain it if anyone asks.

Now, I just need someone to draw it out for me.

That's what tattoo artists do for a living...

Yes, I know they do, but as I said, I don't have the money to get it done right now and I don't want to waste (wrong choice of word) their time right now to have them design it only to have me not be able to have the work done for some time (a couple months at least).

Right, then just hang tight. When you have money, go find an artist. Really, you should be finding an artist capable now, go consult and give a deposit, and book the date(most artist have a few week-month wait), then come the appointment, you have a drawing done with a great artist, part of the balance paid by the deposit, and life is good.
