|
|
My lower left arm is sleeved and now I am working on my upper left arm. I plan to fill the inside of my upper arm with someone cool since the outside of my upper arm already has some ink on it.
My question is thus: in which direction should a tattoo on the inside (the side closest to my chest) of my upper arm be oriented - which way should it appear "right side up"? When my arm is hanging by my side? That doesn't seem right since that's when it will be least visible. Should it instead be oriented horizontally so that it will appear "right side up" when my arm is straight out to my side (like when doing a double-bicep pose)? |

Your shoulder is the top, your hand is the bottom. Think about it. If you had a full body suit coming down from your shoulders, where are you gonna flip everything? If you were doing text and you wanna oriante it readalbe with your arm out, then I would say you do it so up is up when your doing a gym guy muscle pose, then yeah,. All my shit up is up my arm and down is towards the hand, I dont have anything, nor will I, horizantal. _________________

| Always place it where it is seen best when you are showing it. For example, when doing a rib piece, I'd place the stencil on with the arm raised, so the skin is stretched like when you'd lift your arm to show it. |

Well, the main thing that got me thinking was that, if the tattoo is placed so that the image is perfect while my arm is hanging neutrally by my side, no one (including me) will ever see it in any but a twisted, distorted form. |

Yeah, that's what I was asking.
Due to the nature of it being a decades-long process, my sleeve is comprised of different images being linked together in kind of a patchwork way. This being the case, I am trying to work out what to do with the inside of my upper arm since the outside of my upper arm is already occupied.
Ideally, I would put an image there that made visual sense regardless of the angle at which it's viewed, but I'm having some trouble thinking of stuff like that. |

When I got my half sleeve, the inner bicep was done with the images oriented so the bottom faces toward my elbow and the top toward my armpit. If it weren't that way, the images would be facing differently from what's on the the outer arm. When I was getting tattoed, my arm was either straight out or bent in the "muscle guy" pose. When I show the tattoo and lift my arm like that then the image isn't twisted or warped, just sideways. _________________ "The creation of mankind was the act of an egomaniac, plain and simple"

This was taken with my arm straight out.

So, the image is really sideways when your arm is out straight, it's just that the image is not distorted because that's how your arm was when the image was stenciled/sketched on, right?
So if I were to get something like the Statue of LIberty (which I'm not getting) on the inside of my arm, she would just be laying down when I put my arm out straight, yes? |

Exactly. When he stenciled and tattooed me, I was laying down with my arm straight out. _________________ "The creation of mankind was the act of an egomaniac, plain and simple"
