On a recent trip to Canada...and session for some ink at a local parlor...the topic of Miami Ink came up...most of the artists in the shop said they were not that impressed with their work...Similar to hardcore bikers not liking American Chopper...
Personally, I like some (and I stress some) of their work....Paul Booth and Guy Aitchison make these guys look like amateurs...but I guess we all have our own favorite artists....
Alas, what say you...chime in... |

i think the show is alright actually. I like how they show the stress of runing a shop to us viewers at home who would otherwise not see or realize how hard artist work to keep thier shops open and make money. I also like the way the way they have the people describe why their getting the tattoos. Just my 2 cents _________________ Think how you want about me; Judge me how you wana judge me but Only Gods Judgement Counts |

You make two good points...there is some stress in running a busy shop and trying to meet everyones needs...at the same time trying to be the best artist you can be...In addition, it is always good to hear why people are getting their ink.

the biggest draw for me is they focus on the tattoo, what it means, and show them drawing it also
and then add the drama for tv, the stress of the shop, the artist's personal life
i watch it when i can, its much better then inked
i actually went into h&h while in vegas and was not impressed.
id like to check out miami ink in person though |

Good show last night...some meaningful tattoos...esp. for the guy in the wheelchair and the guy that lost his mother...The star tattoo was lame...but we always have to remember...a tat is a personal thing...so for that gal...it was what she wanted.

I saw the show last night too. I was impressed with Ami's Koi Dragon. I had never seen anything like that before.
What bothered me was the serious lack of professionalism shown to that poor girl who wanted Garver to tattoo her rosary beads. Gaver coudn't do it and then Ami got all pissy about it and the girl ended up having to come back. When she did, Garver's back hurt so he made Kat do it.
I have to say that the only person that I would want to ink me from that show is Garver, and if I traveled all the way down there and he said he couldn't do it, I woud be pissed.
I know he has a problem with his spine and all but come on. I have a curvature in my neck and sit at this stupid computer all damn day. I can't just make other people do my work because my neck hurts.
It seemed to me like the tattoo was not interesting enough for him to want to do it and I think that sucks.

He didn't make Kat do the tattoo. Kat offered to do it. Give him a break. With something that serious that could end his career as a tattoo artist in two years, he needs to take what procautions that he can.
I did think that Ami could have been a little more professional when it came to the rosary beads. That is his job. To tattoo what the costumer wants. I would have left the shop and went somewhere else.

OK your right. She did offer, but in my opinion he gave up on it too easy. I think that if it was a more interesting tattoo that he would have made more of an effort. Just my opinion.

Hey...buddlakeharleyrider...do you have a bigger pic of the eagle skin tear.
My bro has one just like that on his chest but with an american flag and he changed it up a bit to make it fade into the head of the eagle..pretty cool.. |
