I was asked to make a custom killer mask, "like leatherface but with a barbwire fetish". I think it turned out pretty neat looking and thought I'd post some pics before I mail it out.
thanks for looking. _________________ www.secondskinstudio.net

Long story short?
Make a sculpture in clay
mold it in plaster
clean clay out of mold
clean mold
fill with liquid latex
allow it to sit for at least a half hour
dump latex
flip mold over and let it drain
next day brush corn starch into the mold and pull out the latex 'skin'
clean up the mask, cut it and paint it.
sell it *hopefully* to get the funds to make more masks.
*this is basically all the steps. Of course each one of those steps has like 100 'sub-steps' Lol. But that's basically it in a nutshell.
This mask I made from 2 different masks. The less rotted half of the face is actually from a 'The Punisher' mask I make. Though I'm tempted to see how The Punisher looks painted white and made into a Myers mask, lol.
So two masks I put together as one. I filled in the gaps in the nose and behind the ear with latex and filler to make it solid and nasty looking once painted. The straps are 2 identical belts I bought, then cut up, weathered painted sanded, etc. And the barbwire I spent all day yesterday making by hand, so it looks like real barbwire, but wouldn't actually cut you.
Hope that helps. _________________ www.secondskinstudio.net

Thanks Nere, ugly can be beautiful too. Just depends on how you look at it.
I'd rather look at a perfectly put together faux rotting corpse then a sunset any ol' day.
Matter of fact, one of my 'dreams' is to have a lifesized decapitated rotting woman hanging on my wall in chains. Something that as soon as someone walks in my house they go, "Holy Fuck!!" and run for the door!!
If you ever see the movie 'Wolf Creek' there's a corpse like that hanging in the shed. Tis beautiful it is. Even has the calf meat rotted off of one leg while the foot still looks pretty whole and fresh. Quite nasty and beautiful.
I don't have too much stuff that I keep, my 'collection' is usually other peoples orders on the way out the door. But I really, really want to make the fullsize rotted woman when I get the time and the chance.
Gawd that would look hideous. Handcuffed, decapitated, rotted, and hanging from the wall. *shivers* I can't wait to see the reactions!! _________________ www.secondskinstudio.net

The irony is people will look at my art and go, "oh you're a Goth!" and it's like, no, I'm not lily white with black hair. I don't think my name is 'Count' something. Other then tattoos I'm pretty normal looking. Long hair, T shirts and jeans.
Goth? Psh,...I'm just what happens when you grow up watching Tom Savini and George Romero movies, lol. I like disgusting realistic lifesized art. _________________ www.secondskinstudio.net
