This practice skin stuff is a huge pain in the ass to work with... but if everything about it were easier than real skin, it wouldn't be too helpful. Here's an octopus I did. A million things about it could be better. I did it freehand because I learned from my other practice skin that stencils will never come off them... ever. The picture is mega shitty, sorry.

Very very nice. That skin shit is trippy. Hard as a rock. I used some when I first started my apprenticeship. Hated it. I should try it again. The cool thing about it is it never taps out. Good job.

Thanks guys for the comments! If nothing else, it's definitely helping me build confidence and muscle control haha. Yeah, these things are terrible to work with! If you try it again Yorvo, you should post your experiences with it. I haven't tattooed real skin in quite a long time, but based on the experience I did have, getting solid color and smooth blends on the practice skin is more difficult. But like you said, it never taps out - and it doesn't have to heal either so I can work on them over the course of a couple days when I have time.

I think that's the cool part. You can use it like paper or a canvas and take your time and showcase your skill. In skin you're working under a time constraint. It's like a performance. It's show time. So while the fake skin is harder to tattoo, there is way less pressure.

just curious, you tattooed that into the fake skin? or did you just like watercolor over it? if you tattooed that, you need to start doing real skin again. looks gorgeous. amazing!
