| I've been seriously considering shaving my head for almost a year now. I just haven't been able to bring myself to actually do it. I've made an appointment to finally do it in a couple weeks. I'm a little nervous about how it's going to look. Anybody here shaved? Regrets? |

| You made an appointment? Really? Like to have someone else do it? Trim your hair down with some clippers, use conditioner to shave your head, not soap or shaving cream, conditioner. Get a fresh razor and go by feel. Do one pass at a time and rinse it well after every pass. You don't need a mirror so do it in the shower. After, check it out in the mirror. After a while you'll know if it's done or not and you won't need the mirror. |

That doesn't seem like a lot of work to you?! A lot of work that I'm learning from a tattoo site, at that (no offense ). This first time, I'm having a professional do it; then he can tell me how to maintain (if I like it).
I'm curious to know if it's something you're supposed to do every day, like your face? |

My husband had me shave his head a few weeks ago when he went into the field so he wouldn't need a haircut mid-field exercise, when he can't get one. It really isn't difficult, my husband barely even needed me to anything, I just helped make sure it was all shaved. I'll have to remember the conditioner tip next time though, thanks yorvo. _________________ "We shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. If you think that's alot of work then it might not be something you should do. The first time is a little more but its still like a 15 minute job. I shave mine every other day to keep it up. Sometimes I'll let it go for a few days but the longer you let it go the more work to get clean again. I've been shaving my head for ten years or so. It's not a big deal, really. I think it's something a man should do himself. Besides the money I save on haircuts is great. I couldn't see paying someone to shave me.
Then again if you don't know much about shaving you might want to hire someone you could rash up your head. It's funny, your quip about learning this on a tattoo site. I'm a tattooer, I shave people everyday. That's what I do.

| I have the head blade in that Amazon link. I don't use it anymore. I like the design but blades you use don't rinse that well. That's an important part. I use the Schick Extreme 3 disposables because they rinse out easily. |

| I been shaving my head once a week now for like 15 years. I have a round head so it works for me. If u have a flat or odd shaped head i would recommend against it. |

| Started losing my hair at 17. I'm 40 now. I don't shave with a razor but use clippers and no guard. It leaves the hair I do have around the sides less than 1/16th inch. The feeling of a razor shaved head feels funny when I wear my baseball cap. |

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I did start losing my hair around 18. It's not bad at all, but I still look in the mirror and think "Ugh... that sucks." It's my least favorite part about my body. Anyway, I'm going to hit this appointment (for exactly the reason you stated, Yorv... just don't trust myself yet) and see what he recommends. I originally thought most guys used an electric shaver but it sounds like straight razors are more common? Interesting. Thanks again, I'll keep you updated |
