Aren't you from the northeast? I saw the name posted above and since you're not doing it for a while, check out Tony Ciavarro in Kingston MA. He's probably hard to book but since you have time you might be ok. Or always keep an eye out at Off The Map for a competent guest artist.

I still think your cassette monster is a very neat, fun idea and I wish you the best in finding the perfect artist to do this project. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out Smile

Tanae whitfiled, parry chopardit would also kill it and they are prolly a lil easer to book than the more well known new skool artists.

I'll second Tanane Whitfield, I'd love to grab something from him eventually. Taylor Cort and Scott Olive come to mind as well. All would have a little different take on it but I think you'd be real happy with the result.

Gunnar travels alllll the time so it shouldn't be to hard to find sometime he is around you. You might have to wait a little but it's definitely worth it.

Everything they do is sick, especially the realistic trash polka stuff.

Gunnar Gaylord emailed me back and seems interested. We are going to talk on the phone in the next week or so to discuss my idea. He says he doesn't travel that much anymore so if this pans out maybe Columbus OH is in my future.
He pretty much understands what I am looking for.

Wow, that's huge if it happens. I actually just read that Gunnar grew up 5 minutes from me, I never knew that. A decent bit of traveling to Ohio but worth it. Did you ever hear from Tony C?

I didn't contact him yet because I wanted to exhaust my chances with Nick Baxter, Nikko and Gunnar first. Haven't heard from Nikko yet but if Gunnar works I'm good. In your opinion would you take Gunnar over Tony C?

They're both great artists. If I knew I could book either I might pick Tony just because he's so much closer for me. But I'm not afraid to travel either, so who knows because it's Gunnar. But if you're willing to travel (actually Ohio isn't all that far) and Gunnar has already expressed interest then you might as well go for it. You know damn well the tattoo you'll end up with.

I am also waiting to see if Mike DeVries gets back to me. This has been fun searching out an artist, mostly because I am patient. I really wanted to try to get "that" special artist first to see how it would pan out. Having an email discussion with Nick Baxter was fun and informative even with his decline. Now having Gunnar showing some interest is exciting. I don't think I am being too picky. I know there are many great artists out there that aren't more nationally/world recognized. But I wanted to try for the recognized artist first.

You won't find a better artist for that piece. Gunnar is extremely creative when putting your ideas on paper and will blow your mind with his drawings. You also will not have a better time getting tattooed and can't beat his price. He works extremely fast too. He did my
entire forearm, wrist to elbow in one sitting. My brother also had his done in one sitting as well 2 weeks ago. good luck

I got an email back from Mike DeVries. He, like Nick Baxter, is currently not taking on any new clients. I'm happy they took the time to respond back to me. I had a list of artists I wanted to at least bring my idea to, in part to see if my idea was interesting enough to potentially get an otherwise totally booked artist to find time.

I am excited about talking to Gunnar on the phone in the next couple of weeks. I think that will either seal the deal or have me continue my search. The only other artists I have not heard back from that I contacted are Nikko Hurtado and Brandon Bond.
