There's a little child
Running round this house
And he never leaves
He will never leave
And the fog comes up from the sewers
And glows in the dark
Baby alligators in the sewers grow up fast
Grow up fast
Anything you want it can be done
How did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
Somethings will never wash away
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
She says "wake up, it's no use pretending"
I'll keep stealing, breathing her.
Birds are leaving over autumn's ending
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
One will spread our ashes 'round the yard
She says "If I leave before you, darling
Don't you waste me in the ground"
I lay smiling like our sleeping children
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
One will spread our ashes round the yard
If you be my star
I'll be your sky
you can hide underneath me and come out at night
when I turn jet black and you show off your light
I live to let you shine
I live to let you shine
but you can skyrocket away from me
and never come back if you find another galaxy
far from here with more room to fly
just leave me your stardust to remember you by
if you be my boat
I'll be your sea
a depth of pure blue just to probe curiosity
ebbing and flowing and pushed by a breeze
I live to make you free
I live to make you free
but you can set sail to the west if you want to
and past the horizon till I can't even see you
far from here where the beaches are wide
just leave me your wake to remember you by
if you be my star
I'll be your sky
you can hide underneath me and come out at night
when I turn jet black and you show off your light
I live to let you shine
I live to let you shine
but you can skyrocket away from me
and never come back if you find another galaxy
far from here with more room to fly
just leave me your stardust to remember you by
stardust to remember you by
That sound coming from those holes
A voice that soars
And takes my wounds with it
To levels unknown
If only you could take me out
Instead of back in
To a relationship i don't understand
If only you could take me out
Instead of back in
To myself that's dying within
Your soul pours out of those holes
Music of this crazy time
When your car crashed
Did your ghost find peace
And together entwine?
If only you could take me out
Instead of back in
To a relationship i don't understand
If only you could take me out
Instead of back in
To myself that's dying within
You are a splendid butterfly
It is your wings that make you beautiful
And I could make you fly away
But I could never make you stay
You said you were in love with me
Both of us know that that's impossible
And I could make you rue the day
But I could never make you stay
Not for all the tea in China
Not if I could sing like a bird
Not for all North Carolina
Not for all my little words
Not if I could write for you
The sweetest song you ever heard
It doesn't matter what I'll do
Not for all my little words
Now that you've made me want to die
You tell me that you're unboyfriendable
And I could make you pay and pay
But I could never make you stay
I'll post the rest later, I could'nt find the right version of true love will find you in the end and now I'm bored with this shit. _________________
Try "Song for a Dead Friend" by Kevin Gilbert, "Open Door" by Genesis. Two of my favorites.
Song For A Dead Friend
Danny my friend
I think you knew me better than I ever knew you
Cause you read every chapter
And I just glossed right over them
and pretended I knew
But I believed in you
I loved you for your brilliance
and your way of making everything absurd
And I relied on you
To make me see the foolishness
of paragraphs that were better as one word
What could I have told you to make you think again
We draw the same conclusions but we choose a different end
When you tear it down it only looks more ragged
And when you build it up it only looks more fake
So why not let it be at least until tomorrow
And then you just might see your sad mistake
Cause life has more to give that what you take
Danny my friend
Forgive me if I break our rule but I think it's overdue
I really cared about you
I didn't think that I could love a friend
as much as I loved you
And we were always friends
We were Captain Jim and Billy
the Super-human Crime-avenging Twins
I'm gonna miss you
I truly am alone now
because there's no one to congratulate my sins
I wish I could have been for you a more consistent friend
The chapters that I skipped I'm going to have to read again
But when I tear it down it only looks more ragged
And when I build it up it only looks more fake
But I can't let it be because part of me died with you
And there's lots of pages missing from my book
You had more to give than what I took.

Jimmy Buffett's "He Went To Paris" gets me every time, as does his "The Captain And The Kid". _________________ Matt Crunk

lol I love girlfriend in a coma. I think saddest smiths song would probably be asleep, followed closely by either please, please please, I know it's over, that joke isn't funny anymore, or tonight has opened my eyes. How soon is now gets an honorable mention as well.
nice to see folks appreciating the lo-fi. _________________
I can only speak subjectively, and 2 songs that always hit me are :
The Gaslight Anthem : "The '59 Sound"
Well, I wonder which song they're gonna play when we go.
I hope it's something quiet and minor and peaceful and slow.
When we float out into the ether, into the Everlasting Arms,
I hope we don't hear Marley's chains we forged in life.
'Cause the chains I been hearing now for most of my life.
Did you hear the '59 Sound coming through on Grandmama's radio?
Did you hear the rattling chains in the hospital walls?
Did you hear the old gospel choir when they came to carry you over?
Did you hear your favorite song one last time?
And I wonder were you scared when the metal hit the glass?
See, I was playing a show down the road
When your spirit left your body.
And they told me on the front lawn.
I'm sorry I couldn't go,
But I still know the song and the words and her name and the reasons.
And I know 'cause we were kids and we used to hang.
Did you hear the '59 Sound coming through on Grandmama's radio?
Did you hear the rattling chains in the hospital walls?
Did you hear the old gospel choir when they came to carry you over?
Did you hear your favorite song one last time?
Young boys, young girls, ain't supposed to die on a Saturday night.
One of them's off her food
And the other one's off his head
And both of them are off down the boozer
To drink a toast
To the one that he hates most
And she says there are no winners, only losers
Well if there are no winners
Then what is this he thinks
As he watches her complete a lap of honour
And he sits in the stands With his head in his hands
And he thinks of all the things
He'd like to bring down upon her
Revenge will bring cold comfort in this darkest hour
As the juke box says 'It's All Over Now'
And he stands and he screams
What have I done wrong
I've fallen in love with a little time bomb
In public he's such a man
He's punching at the walls with his bare and bloody hands
He's screaming and shouting and acting crazy
But at home he sits alone and he cries like a baby
He holds your letters but he can't read them
As he fights this loneliness that you call freedom
You said this would happen and you were not wrong
I've fallen in love with a little time bomb

Like I said, it's completely subjective. Others may not think they're "sad", and I could totally and easily see their point. _________________ "Sometimes a Tattoo is Just a Tattoo.
