Hey everyone i have a brass knuckles tattoo on my ribs, and unfortunately i regret getting it and want to bring meaning to a meaningless tattoo. I was thinking about adding love thy neighbor too it, like the classic sailor jerry tattoo. Because i am a person who fallows gods word, but i dont see the connection between brass knuckles and this leviticus passage. Can someone please explain the meaning, if there is one. I would imagine weapons are a double meaning that emulate empathy possible? but can someone please elaborate on my theory, or explain.

Pure irony. See it's a passage about love, but the image implies violence. Geddit? GEDDIT?? You didn't receive what you were expecting. Oh, silly literary devices!

depends if they intended it to have meaning or not..like they said it could have been drawn for irony..theres really no way of us knowing for sure.. |

Honestly if you dig deep enough you can derive pretty much any meaning you want out of something. Read stuff like John Donne's poetry and you'll see how far you can stretch meaning out of anything or link seemingly unrelated objects to each other.
At face value it does seem that the intent of this tattoo is irony. Perhaps the shallowness and hypocrisy of Christianity? I don't know. |

if you really follow God's word, then why on earth you put a brass knuckles tattoo on your ribs... should you think of any things connecting to God? your watching too much of Constantine movie...  you surely love Keanu Reeves brass knuckle...  |

So now you just keep it around to remind you who you were.
One of the best preachers I ever heard was a mexican ex gangster, he had crazy gang tattoos all over his arms and neck. Didn't stop him from running a church.
