UPDATED : Filled in today

Hey guys new to the forum just wanna say hi I'm Rudy.

I have over 20 tattoos and one with white shading in some numbers in a fade.

I have wanted this tattoo for many years and finally found an artist that made me comfortable with it.

So far they are healing great . No itch , minor peel. Hopefully these will hold well like my other white ink. My skin is kind of olive but my face is lighter than the rest of my body.

Just a question , how often should this be touched up to hold the ink?? I love this tattoo and will delicately take care of it. This is a day after pic , and I will post pics of week+

Thanks guys

Isn't there some connection between teardrop tattoos and prison and/or murder? In any event, I would probably stay out of the hood with those just in case.

Moving on to your question... I suppose it all depends how fast they fade. I don't hold white very well. I would really just play it by ear, I don't think there is any specific timeline to follow.

Well I unfortunately live in the hood , but I'm fine.

Would it be a bad idea to touch it when it heals? I only ask these newbie questions due to the fact the ink is white..

Thanks for the reply!

I don't have much unblended white in my skin and i'm no artist either. but, I think you're going to have a hard time to get that white to stick even if you go back every week and have it touched up. From everything I've seen/heard/experienced there's just no way to really make white solid after it settles into the skin. Especially on one of the most prone places to things like wind, sun, water, creasing, wrinkles, etc. My guess for when it heals is it'll only be noticeable when someone is up real close.

As far as I am aware the aftercare would be the same. So really only touch it with clean hands when applying ointment or lotion. Aside from that leave it alone.

by clean hands they mean only right after you wash your hands...

i only say this because some guy was touching his fresh tattoo the other day, and it was super infected. we told him to only touch it with clean hands, and he said they are clean i was them at work. but he had to touch the doornob to get into the shop...

guys.. the guy said he had over 20 tattoos i think he knows when and when not to touch his tattoos. he clearly just forgot to say up "Would it be a bad idea to touch it *up* when it heals?"

oooooooh, right, OK, that makes more sense.

I personally wouldn't run right out and get it touched up. I also don't think constantly reworking the area is going to make it hold the ink any better. I would just see how long it holds for. If it starts fading after a number of months, go back for a touch up. After awhile if you find that it is just not holding, maybe just let it fade away versus constantly having it redone. But, you never know, you might get lucky.

White holds (or not) differently for everybody. Hopefully your tattooist has some experience in working "white only" tattoos and can guide you personally.

LOL !

Thanks guys , and I'm sorry I ment touch-up (not literally touching lol)

I know it won't stay bright white but my artist knew white ink in and out , she avoided contact with the marker and said on my skin I should hold it well. She also said that because of the color , during healing , it may fade and then pop back when the healing process is done.

Thanks for taking time to reply guys , and this seems like a cool forum!!!

Edit: I was going to get them filled in , but the artist felt it would possibly look to "scarish"
