Hello everyone. I am very new to the tattoo world, and am looking for sayings or symbols to represent learning from mistakes. A quick search of the internet didn't reveal many ideas, the only one that applied was the saying "with every mistake we must surely be learning". I like it, but am wondering if anyone has any other ideas. As for the reason why I would like to do this, it sort of has a double meaning. Firstly, I was an addict for 8 years and am now clean. The second is due to many breakups from the same girl. Each time, I trusted that she wouldn't do it again, and the tattoo would serve as a reminder that I need to learn from the past. I would really appreciate any ideas or advice from anyone. Thanks a lot for your time.

Any tattoo can mean anything you want it to mean. There is no guidebook or rules.

do you like the beatles?
are you looking for a quote?
i would get an image... doesn't have to be obvious to everyone else what this tattoo means as long as its a reminder to you not to repeat the same thing over and over. you could get a cracked skull and whenever anyone asks you what it means... say i'm thick headed... i don't learn from my mistakes very easily. ha ha.

This idea blows.. You sound like a candidate for Miami ink. Stop being so sappy..

I would think that all of the time, money, and love lost on that bitch would be enough of a reminder to learn from your mistakes. A tattoo isn't going to do this. Get a fucking tattoo that looks cool to you. No tattoo is going to heal you like magic or teach you anything. I know you said that you are new to the "tattoo world" but the general rule is any thing you see on a tattoo show is what not to do.

Just get a stupid tattoo. You'll learn from that. A couple years ago I had an 18 year old little blonde spring break cutie come in for her spring break tattoo. She got the quote, "Never a mistake, only a lesson" on her bikini line. I laughed inside the whole time thinking I hope she learns her lesson from this one.
