So I need advice asap! I just got an half sleeve outline that's only 3 days old. I am participating in a race in 4 days where they throw colored powder (I think it's corn starch) at you. I don't want to mess up my new tattoo but not sure how to protect it. My tattoo shop has said NOT to cover it with Saran Wrap because it shouldn't have anything tight rubbing against it and not allowing it to breath. They also said no cloth materials/gauze because the powder will get wet (from my sweat) and soak through the material and then touch my ink. So what do I do?? Not attending the race isn't an option. Embarassed

I don't have any advise about corn starch touching a 7 day old tattoo - but I can't imagine it would do any harm, either.

How long is the race?

Plastic wrap is not going to hurt your tattoo. Most of the regulars here plastic wrap their tattoos for the first 10+days anyway. Wrap it up for the race if you want. Either way, corn starch isn't going to hurt anything. It's not acid.

It seems like it but it's actually in quite a few big cities. I did one, it was really fun. If you are into that type of thing of course, but just people all dressed up having fun. Lots of great looking ass there too.

I'm into racing, running, mud run, outdoor challenges, Mt biking, kayaking, etc. but have never heard of a corn starch tossing race.

The Hash House Harriers toss flour - but that is used to mark the ground, not the runners.

I had never heard of it either, but seems to be quite common.

I assume these are a pay-to-play like the mud runs(warrior dash, etc)? Ridiculous amount of money being made by those things. Wish I'd have thought of it.

Yeah they make a killing for sure. We just had a Warrior Dash a few weeks ago. Thousands of people.

We have a few small eco challenges in Oct that are pretty sweet. They have 3 different ones. The small one is 3 miles kayak, 3 miles mt bike, 3 miles of running/nav/ob. courses.
