|

I have three tattoos, two smaller ones. Yesterday I got a big portrait done on my chest and it took about five hours.
Here is the problem, my first two tattoos I cleaned with warm water and a mix of soap + a little hydrogen peroxide. Last night About three hours after receiving the tattoo I took the bandage off and cleaned it with that same mixture, and again this morning. Only to find out that peroxide is used to FADE tattoos. Im starting to freak out.
Will the use of a little peroxide that early after getting the tattoo have any serious effects causing the tattoo to fade? (It is black and grey) Or am I in the clear because I only used it twice and rinsed it off immediately after. Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks.

That's a sweet looking tattoo.
No, you will be fine. I would just wash it a few times a day with mild soap and water (nothing else). I would personally recommend also using a light coat of Aquaphor 2-3 times per day for the first 3 days to prevent scabbing. Then on day 4 switch to unscented lotion such as Lubriderm and use this for 2 weeks. Then stop everything.
Aside from that, don't fuck with it, avoid sun exosure and avoid swimming/baths/soaking. |

Just curious where did you get the idea to put peroxide on a tattoo? _________________ You don't have a sleeve if you have to put a goddamn fraction in front of it. |

I had no antibacterial soap so I just mixed regular soap with peroxide. Clearly a mistake |

You don't need antibacterial soap. Regular liquid Soft Soap is fine.
And again, it will be fine. You did not do any harm to the tattoo so don't stress over it.
Please credit your artist since he/she did such a great job. |

See that's the thing it actually didn't foam Whatsoever! Makes me think that not too much peroxide even got Into it. The water I rinsed it with after had a slight shade of grey but other then that no signs of fading have happened. |

With both of mine I only used water to rinse them when they were fresh.
And about 2 a day for the first week or so (until they peeled 100%)I put a little Helosan on them
Don't use soap.
I used hydrogen peroxide on my second after I woke up if there were dirt in it, but just about the first 2 days, when it started flaking i stopped with the peroxide.
Nice tattoo ! I love it |
