|
|
Five years ago when I was in high school, I was doing some bench pressing for the first time. Some idiot coach told me to "bounce it off my chest." Sure enough, the repeated pounding from only one set left a bruise.
Weeks went by and I was waiting for the bruise to disappear, but it never did. This bruise is now what I believe is nothing more than a scar. It can be compared to "that scrape on your knee you got when you fell off your bike when you were 12."
Here's a picture of what it looks like today:
My question is:
Is it possible to cover up such a scar with a tattoo?
Whether it is or not, this scar has left me to wonder what kind of design would be appropriate for this task. |

look up keloid removal options. A tattoo will mask it rather than camoflage it. Im told ink wont hold up well on keloid tissue _________________ It puts the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again |

| That result is incredible. It still looks fresh, like a burn from just a few weeks ago. |

How many years ago was that exactly?
I wouldn't tattoo around or over it until it goes down a bit. _________________ REAL MESSAGE FROM JIMI: I weigh 241lbs I am a golden gloves boxing champion, brown belt in BJJ and a black belt in Judo. I agree with Kalash. Get it removed if it's a keloid as it's not going to get any better without surgery.
If you don't know if it is, find out. If it's itchy than it is. If you already had it checked out and it's not a keloid despite it looking exactly like one than give it a couple years until it flattens out I suppose. But since it looks so fresh, I guarantee it is a keloid scar.. _________________ REAL MESSAGE FROM JIMI: I weigh 241lbs I am a golden gloves boxing champion, brown belt in BJJ and a black belt in Judo. | I believe/hope it is a hypertrophic scar, which is apparently a lot easier to remove than a keloid scar. It probably won't go away on its own since its been five years and still hasn't changed shape or thickness, so I scheduled an appointment with a dermatologist next week. We'll see what they say. |

I got it checked out by a dermatologist and it is indeed a keloid scar. She mentioned that the darker your skin tone, the more likely you are to develop keloid scars. I had Cortisone injected which is supposed to reduce swelling and irritation. But the thing is that piercings and tattoos are NOT recommended for me since they could result in more keloid scars.
Here's a picture of the scar after the injection:

| It'll take anywhere from 1 week to 4 to see actually significant results. |

| I will get these injections until the scar is gone permanently. But since mine is so small, I think it should only take one or two injections. |
