Hello all,

Hoping some of you can share your opinions/knowledge on some things I am wondering.

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo for the past two years, and keep coming back to the phrase 'This too shall pass' it has many deep meanings for me, and thus I feel it is appropriate to have it permanently emblazoned on my body. However, I can't decide where. Initially I wanted it inside my wrist in white ink, but after speaking to a few tattooist they advised against white ink. Has anyone on here had white tattoos, how did they age? Now I am drawn to my lower stomach (in line with the bottom of my hip bones) as it is toned and also relatively private. Is this a painful place to get a tattoo in comparison to other areas*?

* Note: I am female, and don't know if this area differs in sensitivity between males and females

What does having a tattoo done feel like, what type of sensation can it be described as? Not the level of pain, I realise that is highly subjective, and perhaps me asking what it is 'like' is also subjective, but perhaps someone can give some insight??

Lastly, where can I find some nice fonts so that I can choose how the phrase is written? I would go and visit a tattooists' but I don't live near any, and will have to travel to get it done from someone who has done numerous tattoo's for my cousin.

Any help anyone could give would be appreciated, thanks for reading and keep up the conversation, it is so interesting reading everything and learning. Question

The pain differs from artist to artist. Some tattooers work slower than others, some have heavy hands as they say. The phrase "of course it hurts" comes to mind. You shoud not worry about the pain you should only concern yourself with the questions "who is to do my tattoo?"and "what should I get?"
It sounds like you have already answered one of the questions.

Remember the pain is only temporary but the tattoo lasts forever. What part of the body hurts more than others usually is an individual thing, although some areas are more sensitive then others such as the stomach and ribs. But nothing that would rule a certain area out of the question because of pain issues. Ide stay away from the white ink except for use in heilighting and accenting the design. If your going with an ornate style of lettering you may want to look at some grey shaded styles as apposed to a solid type. Shop around and if you decide on the stomach area make sure you see other work the artist has done in that area. Good luck in your endevor.
