Its been well over a month since I got my lip and nipple pierced and have to say I love them both, but about a week ago idk what happend but my lip piercing got irritated it's kinda red on the outside and it started crusting again, and like a week after that again idk what the fuck happened but one side of my nipple piercing has like some white stuff stuck under the skin, I've just been cleaning both peircings the same way I always have, I don't touch them at all unless I'm cleaning them, I've even backed off the cleaning a bit for fear that's what's causing the irritaion, I might post some pictures if they're of anyhelp...now see my lip, it doesn't hurt, it's not pussing, it's not swollen or warm, doesn't smell as far as I can tell so I know it's not infected but it won't stop crusting it's been a month it should be pretty well healed and idk what happened...now my nipple when I clean it that side with the white stuff trapped under the skin, it kinda stings when you poke at it, but it's not swollen, it's not pussing or oozing pus, it's not warm..so I'm puzzled as to what's going on, they were healing beatifully up intil a few weeks ago...any suggestions? The redness around the outside of my lip piercing bothers me it never really goes away...any help would be appreciated. Thx

hello, well...in my experience, piercings do not heal in a month, especially if you have multiple piercings, here's what i think happened....you got them at the same time, you took good care of them(which is great!!) and they were doing fine, until something happened (i have had my lips pierced several times and this always happens to me) you bit it in your sleep, tugged it while you were eating or something of the like...so it aggravated your lip piercing a little bit, which is normal so dont' be overly concerned, your mouth is the fastest healing part of your body...BUT by pissing off your lip piercing your immune system took a little hit, so it messed with your nipple piercing as well. you have to remember, just because they look and feel fine, does not mean they are healed, they are still healing internally!! alot of people think this and once the piercing no longer hurts, they stop taking care of it, and then it gets infected!!! continue to take care of it. and they will be fine...i hope this makes sense, i'm a lil drunk right now but i know what i am talking about i have been piercing for over 7 years! Smile

PS

also you can try taking zinc vitamins, it boosts your immune system, i always take these when i get multiple piercings!

thx that actually helps a lot, I've been drinking multivitamin water a lot seeing if that would help, lots of vitamin a-z, I always clean my nipple piercing in the shower using some soap and my hands, it's looking much better, but my lip hasn't changed much, might try sea salt soaks, heard they help, but thx for the helpful post

you know everyone has their preferences, but i have never used soap to heal any of my piercings, it's leaves a residue behind which is very difficult to wash out since it lingers inside of the wound. I have always done the sea salt and it works great, 1/8 tsp of non iodized sea salt to 8 oz warm water.

I'll have to start trying that, piercer gave me care instructions to use antibacterial soap twice daily on them, brush teeth twice if not three times a day and use mouthwash...so yea idk I think I'll try the seasalt, my nipple looks normal again but the lips still kinda the same

Try some biotene its non alcohol based mouthwash and heals piercings quickly its a lil pricey but well worth it. I wouldn't use antibacterial soap it not only kills bad bacteria but the good bacteria that the body uses to heal.

ugh it's really bugging me, my nipple is absolutely fine now, but my lip man it's piss'n me off every time I eat or drink something other than water it gets red around the outside! what is going on...good thing is it's not crusting anymore or anything, like it starts to look as if it's getting better than it flares up again...I wanna get snake bites so if I get the other side of my lip pierced I hope I don't run into this problem again, I'll have to post some close up pictures so everyone can take a look and tell me what they think

when i had my lip done, after a month is seemed to be fine. i wasn't eating normal foods like i usually do e.g big sandwich or hoagies. when i moved away from oily foods it was fine but when i had them it flarred up. not sure what happened but that may have triggered the problem.

yea, well I eat pretty much anything I want, like it just flares up at random, the last couple weeks I've been taking care of it hardcore, wash it 3-5 times a day, brush my teeth three times a day, sea salt soaks, biotene mouthwash the works, and it look'd like it was clearing up really fast and then just yesterday it flares up AGAIN it's been like idk how many months now 3 going on 4 idk, this is rediculous, other ppl I know that have had their lips pierced have them heal up fine no flare ups, so minor scarring like mine has, idk the hoop is unusually large even for a starter hoop because it bends over to like the middle of my lip, I'm gonna get a smaller one put in since there isn't anymore swelling and just keep taking care of it like I have been, my nipple is good put a new barbell in it, just got my eyebrow done and that's all healed up nicely...kinda want the other side of my lip done to make snake bites and I want my tongue done but not sure if I want venoms or just one in the middle...but this damn lip piercing better start behaving shortly, lol!

As far as I know any salt used for consumption has iodine in it except of course Kosher, Sea Salt etc. It was put in because most people didn't get enough iodine in their diet many years ago.

It's sort of the same concept as putting fluoride in water to prevent cavities since people couldn't afford toothpaste or in a time when toothpaste wasn't as common, people used baking soda before toothpaste was invented.

Regular salt is bleached, sea salt and non iodonized salt is not, bleach is bad for your flesh while iodine helps heal. Sea Salt is the best.
