Hi all,

I am looking to get my first tattoo and I'm not sure who to go with. I don't think the idea itself should be very difficult, but it's important to me to find a quality artist that is passionate about his or her work and will put all their effort into a piece no matter the size or difficulty.

Right now I am thinking about just the guy on the left although maybe doing them both would be cool? Also, This is just an idea. I would like to take the picture to an artist and perhaps we could come up with a really cool idea.

That being said, I really do like the silhouette as it is. I would most likely add a little more detail, but honestly as it is, I really like it. My only concern is that this type of tattoo, if not done right may end up looking like a lump of black ink in 40 years when I'm in my sixties.

Any thoughts on an artist I should work with? I would prefer this to be done in Portland, but if you know of a really amazing artist anywhere in Oregon, that would work as well. Thanks!

It's good you are thinking about this like that.

Personally they can work but I feel you would have a better tattoo if you incorporate them into another main piece above as it will look unfinished and very empty above them. That or a background?

I have something similar but as you can see added a main picture to it.

This is mine :)

This dude ^^^ probably has the best collection of the the work in the style that you should be looking for of anyone in the world. 95% of 'artists'that are gonna try to pull this off in a 'silhouette' style are gonna end up with some flat half tribal looking POS tattoo. Take advice from this dude^^^

In your opinion who does better work, Tim or his brother?

Also, what do you guys think of Cecil Porter? www.cecilportertattoos.com

Can't go wrong with Cecil. Although his true genius is with colour. I wish I saw the world with all the colours that he sees!

Or either of the Kerns. I prefer Tim's stuff, but that's more a personal artistic thing. I'm more drawn to his style. Both are insanely talented.

If it was me, I'd send the idea to all three and see if any of them reply.

You should head down to Springfield for the convention. The weekend after next. You will see tons of talent there!

Cecils work is great but not really what your looking for.

Tim and James are twin brothers and both are fantastic artists but I think Tims work leans more to what you are looking for

Tim is way more the style you're looking for vs James. Like mentioned Cecil will never take this project.

Peter's is done by Silvano Fiato.
