I have celiac (gluten/wheat intolerance) along w/no dairy, eggs, nuts, caramel color & some fragrances Is it possible for me to have a tattoo? I have searched celiac boards/forums to no avail. I have also searched for ingredient lists on inks & nothing. Are there any "natural" inks available? Any help would be appreciated. |

I have yet to see a tattoo ink that contained wheat, eggs, milk, or nuts.
Generally they are alcohol, glycerine, water, propylene glycol and pigment. Most of the soaps used in tattoo studios contain lavender oil, so if that's a problem tell them. Generally petroleum jelly is applied to the tattoo while working it. By now everyone should be using nitrile gloves, so most people won't have a problem with latex allergies, and no one should still be using speed stick to apply stencils these days...so ask what method they use.
The best thing to do is go to the artist with the cleanest studio and best ability, and tell them of your concerns, and have them discuss their procedure with you, and mentally check off anything that could be a potential threat. I really can't think of anything that would cause a problem, but then there are strange people doing strange things, these days. |
