I've been looking up and down this forum and I really can't find a lot of artist's experiences with getting into the business. As crazy as it might sound, I'm being apprenticed by a guy that my family knows at a local studio. I've been interested in art all my life, and it seems like ever since I got my ink all I've been interested in is tattooing. I haven't actually tattooed anyone yet, but I've been working on like a practice skin mannekin (if you know what I'm talking about). It's going all right so far.
But here's my Q: As an artist, how did you break into the business and how difficult was it? What advice can you give to a kid like me? |

not an artist but apprentice. basically i just hung round the shop every week fom opening ill closing helping out for free and getting inked up at the same time until i started asking about it i brought in some of my drawings and seeing as i was known quite well throughout the shop iwas given it over a guy whos art was beter than mine but not because i knew them but because they could tell i was more dedicated to working there (well thats what i tell myself anyway) _________________ in brightest day, in blackest night no evil shall escape my sight. let those who worship evils might beware my power GREEN LANTERNS LIGHT!!

hey there , the best thing i can say to you is to keep your head up and put everything you have into youre work it will take time but you have something that most dont and that is someone in your corner that you know and is willing to help you , some dont have that benfit and its much harder for them to get into the bizz. if your pratice is working out for you and your work is getting better you'll see with time that your trainer will be giving you more and more to do . then in no time you'll be tattooing on people. but the key word here is , take your time and dont rush in to it , ok thats more then a {word} lol. _________________ The Basement Tattoos'
