I have been apprenticeing to be a tattoo artist for close to a year now. Body modification and more specifically tattoos are my life. I get very upset with scratchers. It's like a slap in the face. These people are out there messing people up, congesting the industry, and destroying something I love. I hate hate hate stupid scratcher posts. Isn't there a forum somewhere far from here where scrathers can discuss gun malfunction and e-bay ink?

As long as places like this allow the exchange of info, and misinfo, these people will have a place to go. Any respectable forum would delete that crap on sight.
Most of these forums were started under the misunderstanding that people who actually knew what they were doing would just LOVE to give tidbits of info to people who DIDN'T know what they were doing. The people who began these forums felt this would somehow benifit the industry. What they failed to realize is that professionals know tattooing should be an experience that is learned in it's ENTIRETY through apprenticeship, and not by asking questions, and stumbling through. A novice doesn't even know what questions they NEED to ask, so there is no POSSIBLE way to learn through this trial and error method, and no professional would ever participate in it, aside from telling people to search for a mentor. These places have done irrepairable harm to the artform, instead of helping it like they thought they would. As I suggested below, there should be a password protected section where actual professionals can discuss new issues and help each other refine skills they were already taught, and a section to ask "customer type" questions. The exchange of technical info in that section should not be tolerated, and deleted at once. This is the only way to begin to shut these idiots out of the artform, and save it. But this will mostly fall on deaf ears...because the people who started these places are not professionals and understand so little about the art, themselves, that they actually feel they are somehow helping, and refuse to admit they are simply doing damage. It would be a blow to their ego to actually take credit for the damage they have done. Most of them simply decided to open these places to get info, themselves, and just wanted to show they were a "Part of the crowd"...when in reality they are NOT. They are outsiders who claim to love the industry they are helping to quickly destroy...all for their own selfish benifit.

Not to be disrespectful or anything. But that same way of thinking and craping on people is what drives people with questions here. You should be thankful that you found someone who was willing to take you in. I was an apprent for 3yrs and man i tell ya! the slaps in the faces and the rude attitudes some artist have out here was very disgeriging. So maybe you should lighten up alittle and after your broken in, be that person to change there way of tatting.

PEACE
JJ

I am not understanding your post Miraz. I feel for your bad expieriences but your aren't making a clear point. Tattooing is a trade. As with all trades throughout history you learn as an apprentice under a master. Then you become a journey man. The journey man level for a tattoo artist is the point at which your mentor says you can tattoo but only uder their supervision. Then after a set amount of time, usually a year or two of full time tattooing, you are considered a tattoo artist. There isn't a proper place in the industry for anyone who doesn't want to do things this way. I have put in one full year towards my apprenticeship. I don't want to talk about how long I spent in pursuit of a good apprenticeship. It may take years more before I actually get tattooing. The difference between myself and the people I think you were trying to defend is I have enough dedication to the art of tattooing and to my future customers to learn the right way.

Ashley who are you referring to when you said "drop the additude"? If it was me then you are out of luck. I realize not everyone in this forum is a scratcher. If I thought that then I wouldn't be a part of it. But there are enough scratchers cluttering things up to make anyone as dedicated as I am a little pissy.

i dont think you can ever stop learning the appt. phase never realy ends
i learn by shareing it would be impossible to progress with out the give and take of info i talk with many magazine printed artist's {not saying they are the best just publicized artist} take simnars< chat in rooms all nite and so on just so i can grow by helping outher's on they're adventure. but if you have the thirst for ink you will let nothing stop you from getting better by learning the skill's to cause the effects your after.

scratchers cut throats kitchen magicians hooks butchers
will always be around by following the right path to a tattoo artist level you will always be regarded in much higher respect by your PEER's
"letting them frustrate you is a waste of energy better spent drawing."
my mentor told me that around my 7 month in skin when a person i had done a nice piece on had a "friend" do some add on's that they in tern wanted me to fix with out the use of a blow torch and beltsander.all i wanted to do was hunt down the "friend" for fucking up my tattoo work.

if someone is ignorant enuff to let ppl like that tattoo 'em they probly got what they needed to begin with and your talants can now be focused on someone who wants and is'nt scared to pay for an experinced artist that can do the job right.
