Hi guys. My name is tyler. I'm 20 years old, since I was about 17 I had been thinking about getting a tattoo. My mom who is a pretty laid back lady, was ready to let me do it back then but just to be sure I wanted one. I wanted to wait at least til I was 19. The only place I've wanted a tattoo is on the ribs/side of my body. it is what works best for me, it's hidden most of the time, and I think it will last longer (less sun contact)

My question is, I know people say "the ribcage is more sensitive then other areas" I completely understand this. But how much added pain are we talking about here? I can take pain well I think, I've had to deal with my fair share.

What are your recommendations? Any one with experience that can give me some info? I'd really appreciate it.

thanks a lot

Tyler

Just do it, and don't worry about what "other people" say. "Other people" are always saying stupid shit.

Word, thats what I was thinking. Now that I'm older, I really don't think anything is holding me back. I went in today and talked with a couple of the artist, then they decided which one of them would be better off for the job. I am going to get a floral pattern in black and grey up my side and hopefully extend up onto my left shoulder with the letters DMC in script in there somewhere, they are the initials of a friend that was murdered. I think that is why I don't care about the pain of it.

thanks for the help

Good luck brother. Everyone has a different sweet spot, mine is my ribcage, and like I said, everyone is different. But as long as your determined you should be fine regardless.

Yea, it's a little sensative there. But that shouldn't be the determining factor. If someone comes into my shop and wants a tattoo and they are more concerned about pain then I don't want to do the tattoo. A tattoo is a form of art that must be taken very seriously by both the collector and the artist. If you're more concerned about the pain, then the tattoo isn't right for you from the beginning.

Thanks, I really don't think the pain will be more than I couldn't bite on my shirt for. or scream into a pillow (lol). But I'm hoping they could maybe get me in tomarrow to at least start it. They said they maybe could. Otherwise, I am getting surgery on monday and then can't get it anytime during my recovering period (a week) but it would be nice to get it started now. I'm pretty pumped up to get this thing done.

Just to let you guys know. I got my appointment for June 1st at 1 pm for a 2 hour session to start off with. It's 100 bucks an hour, an a rough estimate that it'll cost about 700-800 bucks. I'll post pictures after my first session.

Headin to bed, doin the deed tomarrow. The way I feel right now is kind of like when you're riding a roller coaster up to the first drop, really anxious. because it is my first time and all. But thanks for the advice/help, it helped me to realize that this was really what I wanted, where I wanted.

tyler

there maybe many more people than just me sitting here thinking about your "big day" right now.
you said, that you re including the name of a murdered friend. You ll be fine. At least the external pain of having it done eases the internal pain of loss. that s when you start liking it and getting addicted to it, I d say.

good luck, let us know how you did

Welp, I'm back. Got the whole outline done, and began some shading on the lower part. In the beginning it wasn't even that bad, and a few minutes later it was even better. What hurt the worst was when we got to the top of the tattoo which is way up on my ribs. Actually, the shading at the end hurt the worst, but I think it was because I had been sitting there for a quite a while and everything felt tender as hell. The tattoo looks great, I'll get some pictures up later today when I take the bandage off.

thanks again guys

Told ya!
This goes to show ya....some people are real pussies...and you shouldn't waste your time listening to pussies whine and piss and moan about how bad something hurts.
So, no pain killers, topical creams or having your mommy bring you a teddy bear to squeeze??
Congrats....unlike some folks, you have earned your tattoo, and may wear it proudly!
