| A light coat that is just enough to rub completely in. Blot off any excess after a few minutes. What makes it in will keep it moist for a long time. Wash it and apply new stuff three or four times a day. After it is healed, cut back to once a day forever if you want. |

I LOVE Tatcare. No petroleum, no additives. Has a great anti tch too.
I use shea butter anyway, but haven't tried it for a healing cream. Will definitly try it.
Until I was recommended Tatcare I tried everything, the only success was sinply liquid dial and cleanliness, as ointments cause my skin grief. I've never saw anything heal nicely or quickly with A & D |

| BadWolf, I am very interested in your concoction. I will try my local hippy shop to see if they have/can get the stuff I need. If not I might be hitting you up for some. I'll pay of course. |

Please take note that this thread was started in 05 and died 2 years ago. I'm pretty sure they don't need the cream anymore. _________________ Scientists have known that what grows on a gamer's face is different from that of a man's.

Dump the A&D, and the hippie stuff can be used everyday for the rest of your life, with no problems. Many people use it as a daily moisturizer, so you don't have to worry about switching from one bunch of crap to the next. You start out using it, keep using it throughout the complete healing process, then use it till you die to keep your skin healthy, block UV rays, and keep the color screaming bright.
No shit...try it. You will never go back to greasy kid stuff. |
I'm going to try your mixture next time. I was told by several artists to use A and D and thought the stuff sucks, then it was suggested to use bacitraicin, better but still not good, then an artist I met last year gave Ink Fix and that stuff worked great. Thanks! |

| But only if you use a very little bit 3 to 5 times throughout the day as needed to keep the flesh wound moist. You see this product is only 43% petroleum based and has natural healing agents that promote new skin growth. It allows enough air to get to the skin, and provides a protective layer from dirt and common bacteria in the air. It does not get broken down by the skins natural oils the way common lotions do. Also common skin lotions while in their breakdown stage are a playground for multiplying bacteria. Remember folks this is a flesh wound not a scratch. Also you must wash the flesh wound at least once each day by hand only with non-scented antibacterial soap, and then let it air dry for about 20 minutes. What you must understand is that skin is waterproof, unless it is perforated like after a surgery, or new tattoo session, and most of the water we use to clean our bodies contains harsh chemicals which are no good for our skin. This is why we must let this water be pushed out of our body naturally since tap water also can cause inflmation of the dermal layer from the inside, causeing the body to react and protect itself. |

But for me now, I like using, and recommend to all my clients, plain unscented hand lotion. My thought is that the ointments are based with petrolium jelly. The body has no compatibility for this, and it oozes out of the pores, and makes a sticky surface on the new tattoo, which makes a perfect place for the flying dirt and bacteria in the air, to stick to your tattoo. And also will clog the pores, not allowing air to be able to get to your new tattoo. Where as the lotion penatrates the skin, leaving virtually no residue, and gets to the tattoo to keep it soft and moist.
This is just my way, and I have healed tattoos in the past with other methods. But in my opinion, the lotion method has been my favorite. |
i was thinking about that. i didnt want to say anything. at first, and i know this is a big no no, but we couldnt find any small bottles of unscented lotion[we had to get on a plane] so we got some scented, and when i got home i just bought some curel unscented lotion. put it on every few hours and my tattoo was fine. i did knock off a scab which i think pulled out - << like that much ink. but w.e its small anyways. |
