Well, it's good to see you are that smart.
But lemme ask, WHY are you building machines at this point?
What are you building them from, and how would you know how to build them properly?
Decent machine builders are very familiar with tattooing. They usually are very good tattooists. They understand the machine because they understand what they need it to do. Until you understand the technical aspects of tattooing, what do you think you want it to run like?
Do you know how many Hz a liner should run at, and how to get it to that point if it doesn't without compromising the geometry?
It's a little more involved than simply turning the knob on the power supply to get it to "go faster." It has to run properly, or you may as well use a garden pick.
Not all great tattooists can build a machine. But all great machine builders can tattoo.
That is why you can take a machine built by Seth or Soba or Sailor Jerry, or one of the great tattooists, and it will run perfectly. Because they knew how to do that. Compare that to the overpriced crap Huck Spaulding is shitting out, that is thrown together by people who have never tattooed in their lives, and YOU WILL KNOW THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. Professionals don't use his crap. Don't believe that? Go to a major tattoo convention, and ask all your favorite artists what brand of machine they are using, and I'll bet not one of them says Huck Spaulding.
The easiest way to ruin your chances in this business is to jump ahead of yourself. Trust me. I have been in this business for over 20 years. If someone were to come to me looking for a job, I would NOT want to try and undo their already bad habits. I would want a fresh canvas to work with. I have helped train a few people, and my rule was simple and absolute: The person must never have made a mistake, already.
It will take a million great tattoos to make you famous. It will take ONE bad tattoo to make you famous. And you cannot get rid of that fame, once you have it. That's the beauty of the art. It's forever.

And please don't get me wrong...I admire the enthusiasm. I am just saying that machine building is a WHOLE 'nuther beast that takes a great deal of time you could invest in the basics, at this point.
