i never wanted a tat until i saw the show and how much people do care about them. i know its not just me either, i bet there are millions of people who either got into tattooing or wanted to finally get their first tattoo by watching miami ink. Tattoos have definetly become more common now that Miami ink has been on the air...coincidence?

If you'd read the post, you'd see that that's part of the reason so many artists don't like the show. It has brought a lot of fly-by-night scratchers into the industry, which is BAD.

There is an up and a down side to all of this :

Upside : More customers, more business, moving the industry one more step away from the "outlaw/biker/punker" image of old

Downside : More scratchers fucking people up, more annoying customers that want EXACT replicas of what they saw on the show, and the fact that, inevitably, there will be a backlash and our business will slow down to "normal" again (or, mayhap, be SLOWER than the time before the "miami ink craze" due to the fact that tattoos will be considered "passe'" to most trend following assholes)

Basically, it boils down to this : People watch the show. People see these guys that are portrayed as living like rock stars. They have cash flowing like water, hot chicks aplenty, and, because they've all been tattooing for some time and know technically what they're doing, they make it all look VERY easy (camera-work and editing techniques help as well).

This being the case, said guy on couch watching the show, most assuredly, is going to think to himself : "Dude! dat shit look wicked easy, Yo! I'ma hit da Ebay right now and git me wanna dem guns and hook my shit up!!". That guy will then go on to horribly scar and/or contanimate every one he knows with an IQ less than that of a typical babboon. Multiply this by 10,000, and you'll start to see the problem.

Due to health concerns and the like, tattooing became illegal in most ears of the US not that long ago (christ, the last 2 states to legalize did so within the past year and a half or so). This being the case, it stands to reason that it COULD, in fact, happen again (more likely, we legit tattoo artists will have the government up our asses 24/7, while "trailer park joe" down the street will STILL fuck people up out of his kitchen with little or no consequence)

Hopefully I've helped to shed some light on things (though, truth be told, it's nothing that hasn't been posted on this (and several other) mesage boards for the past 2 years)

Ami and Nunez head to Las Vegas so a major promoter can teach them the tricks of the trade and throw a party for their bar, Love/Hate. While they're away, Darren's pal, acclaimed tattoo artist Joe Capobianco, fills in at the shop.

Well, for better or worse, here it comes.
Scheduled for July 24th, the episode of Miami Ink, that I did a guest apperance on will air.
I fully expect to get my ass handed to me when this airs, so take your best shot...

JOE

Miami Ink
Viva Las Vegas

Joe Cap's episode will air 7/24.

holy fuck speaking of sob stories, did anyone see the one where Ami did a portrait of some lady's dead husband?

Okay, when she asked for that it was like "you're a tool...who wants someone with a picture of their dead husband on their shoulder?" and it was such a BAD picture, like shitty beyond all belief and she expected him to be able to work with that...and then we found out he died! My mom and I thought he died from cancer or something he looked so creepy in the picture...but the story started...omg.

they were drinking at a party, and both were pretty drunk and he got really angry and stormed out to his truck. (we thought he crashed or something and were all like "omg thats sad, but he shouldnt have driven!" ) then the story continued. Everyone came out of the house at the party or whatever, and the drunk husband HIT THE GUY HE WAS ANGRY AT with his truck! intentionally backed over him in the yard! then because he thought he killed the guy he sped off home, went inside and his two kids were sleeping with the babysitter there and he didnt want them to see their daddy go to prison Smile so guess what he did?

He took a shotgun out to his backyard, and a cop came to try and get him to put down the weapon and so he SHOT THE COP. and then turned the gun on himself!

my whole family pretty much was watching by that point and we were all just in shock. it was like "what the fuck?!"

and I client of my mom's, her husband went through the audition process and its fucking expensive. (for canadians anyways) and so we were like "they let her on the show?!" it was insane....

did anyone else see that episode? lmao.

You forgot the part where the portrait was HORRIBLE. I mean, the picture was bad, but the portrait looked like a plastic dummy on crack.

I know that love can be really weird, but if my husband drunkenly ran over some guy, and then went home and shot a cop and then himself, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be getting a portrait of him.

But here is my FAVORITE part: The chick, after she let her husband drive home drunk (and knew that he hit some guy) continued to party and drink. What a fuckin' winner, huh?

More and more, I watch television simply to feel better about my own life.

Before I left home for college/life, my mom and I would watch TV together in the evenings, and every 20 minutes or so, my mother would suddenly just yell "American television is crap!" After a while, she replaced that sentiment with "American CULTURE is crap!!"

Yep, sometimes people don't deserve memorials - especially a memorial in the form of a tattoo that will be on you for the rest of your life. Sometimes, it's best to just realize that the world is a better place without some people. I love how whenever anyone dies, all of a sudden he/she is a saint and could do no wrong. Everyone says what a great guy he was, blah, blah, blah. Why? A piece of shit is a piece of shit, dying doesn't absolve you from being a piece of shit. *steps off soapbox*

Who in their right mind would get a portrait tattoo from Ami?! Dude pretty much sucks.

Cx, your last line gave me this mental image: You scream that, with your face red and your veins popping out on your temples, and then you stomp off and huddle in a corner, smoking a cigarette and mumbling to yourself.

...I'm drunk again. Embarassed
