I have watched the show before but all I really want to see are the tattoos not the storylines. I will admit that Miami Ink did play a part in my husband finally getting a tattoo. But it was only because he became fascinated with the process and how good some of them can look.

I say some of them because some of the Miami Ink ones were kind of crappy and they did the same koi, dragon, cherry blossom ones over and over.

Have you seen the episodes where Ami refuses to tattoo a rosary on someone because he's Jewish (does he really seem that religious to you, or is he maybe just an asshole?), or the one where a woman wanted a tattoo of a skull on her with some daisies... and he didn't like daisies and didn't want to tattoo them, so he said he was going to do some japanese flowers instead?

Ami knows one thing... Japanese art. He is unwilling to go out of his comfort zone, and the majority of other tattoos he does honestly suck. And his Japanese stuff is still not even that great. He's an asshole, he's completely full of himself, and I he couldn't pay me enough for me to allow him to tattoo me.

Kat von D thinks it's okay to tattoo someone in a dirty motel room, with no gloves. In fact, she thinks it's SO okay that she posted pictures of it on her website... and then defended herself. I don't care how great her work is... if she doesn't have enough respect for HERSELF not to do that kind of shit, how much respect do you think she'd have for YOU?

i saw that episode - i nearly turned the channel over! if theres one thing i cant stand its people being "half" religious - you know the "i drink and smoke, and curse and shag big titted girls that come in to get tattooed but im REALLY religious and rosary beads would really insult me" type of people - i mean what the fuck??????????????

the funniest thing was that the episode before he had shouted at Kat for not doing a koi tattoo because she didnt like doing japanese work - he went on about her only doing tattoos that were in her comfort zone and how dare she turn away customers and then he does the exact same thing!!! lol only on tv!

yeah really....like some people just....I don't know, are they on crack? who honestly wants to remember someone like that, and in that way. I honestly think she will never get together with someone again. like no one will ever want her with that piece of shit on her body. and no offence to ANYONE, but for like...presumably a first tattoo, and a portrait, that is a really, well, masculine place to get it, isn't it? her shoulder? and yeah the portrait did look like shit.

one thing that really REALLY bugged me was how every time she talked about her husband dieing she said "this new years day" WHAT THE FUCK. arggg that made me almost as angry.

no wonder everyone hates that damn television show i_i its stupid and unclean. My mom asked me if that was how it really was, like she was aghast. I had mine done by someone only a few notches above a scratcher (to be honest) and he didn't scrimp on making sure everything was completely sterile. arg. now I don't want to watch it anymore, but I'm gunna anyways just cause there is nothing better on...damnit.

Agreed. The bullshit that goes on in that show and Inked as well isn't doing the tattoo world any favors.

lol watch out Johnny, someone else said that and everyone attacked Razz I agree with you in some ways, because it has certainly made my parents more interested in it, but it also gives people the wrong idea, that it's easy money, not alot of work, and you can cut corners on sanitation and stuff.

At least Miami Ink focuses on the clients and tattoos MORE SO than Inked. They both have their share of testosterone crazy egomaniac center men.

Haha yeah it's kind of a downer...

And they'll have like 8 dead people, then a chick who got beaten by her husband, and then a girl who was only allowed on the show because she looks great in a bikini....

it always makes me a lil bummed to ANYONE trying to cram 80 billion things into one fucking tat.

This kid in college once asked me to draw him up a design, "The outline of Italy, but tribal with a wrestler body slamming another into sicily"

I'd rather see tall ships, brass knuckles, full sleeves and rugged japanese.

I didn't know Miami Ink before (I don't live in the US) , just went to youtube to watch it and I find it to be pretty dull and incorrect, the people are all freaks, it surely doesnt represent me very well.... sigh

i know its not just me either, i bet there are millions of people who either got into tattooing or wanted to finally get their first tattoo by watching miami ink. ..coincidence?

If you'd read the post, you'd see that that's part of the reason so many artists don't like the show. It has brought a lot of fly-by-night scratchers into the industry, which is BAD.

It may have but then its down to the individual to research their artist and not support the local scratcher. I think miami ink is shite but it has brought some positive stuff in to the general public's view! Laughing

Its helped to dispel the tattoo = thug thought.
Its made people think about their tattoo, so hopefully there will less of the standard emo star or bit of kanji?
Its made people aware that the world is their oyster when it comes to ink and it doesnt have to be a bit of flash work ( not that it is always bad) they pretty much can have anything that they want!
I think the miami ink generation will possibly have less cover ups because they will be better educated than some!

They have just finished filming London Ink - using some of the top artists in the UK today ................ no doubt that will be seen as bad too, but at least there is some attempt to drag this fabulous art into modern times instead of the stone age stale thing its been for some time!
Sorry for the ramble peeps Rolling Eyes Laughing
