I found a really good tattoo artist on Sint Maarten (the Dutch side of Saint Marten) in the West Indies. Baix at Baix Tattoo is great, fine lines, great color and CLEAN. Good biker bar on site also.
Take care and be well.

A biker bar in a tattoo studio?
Hmmmmm.
They sell bongs, too? |

no bongs, she does piercings also. bongs and such can be obtained at some of the stands in Philipsburg, if you've got tattoos the local pot merchants will try to sell you "good shit" on almost any corner.
The tattoo artist s what I wanted everyone to take notice of---she does great work. |

| Just seems a bit odd. A biker bar/tattoo studio. I generally think of tattoo studios as places that are a bit more controlled. Not sure how one could keep a clean and controlled environment where they are serving alcohol. |

Odd? lol...
Tell that to my ex-ex-boss... Now he owns a 'tattoo, bar & grill'. Real classy... :/ _________________ ~Stacey Sharp

I guess tattooing doesn't have enough problems. I think I'll open a tattoo studio/bong shop/biker bar/strip club/rib joint/used car dealership.
We should all try to project that image...Cuz I feel that's what tattooing needs...to look even MORE trashy in the eyes of more conservative folks.
Hey, nice website layout! Mine is down and being refurbished. Unfortunately I lost years worth of digital pics that I have no backups for. |

OK, look, the Ironhorse Bar & Grill is outside (this is Sint Maarten remember), the tattoo parlour is in a building alongside where the bar is.
Y'all missing the point-- if you are ever in the Caribbean and want a tattoo, this is a CLEAN shop and Baix does good work.
I'm not sure how worried you should be about IMAGE if you have tattoos. I'm almost sleeved and I don't concern myself with image or stereotypes. |

I don't spend every waking hour dwelling on what people think of me as an individual, either. But I am concerned when people view every tattooed person like some circus freak, like Tattoo Mike or some idiot. He wants that image, and unfortunately because of folks like him, and Hollyweird always giving bad guys tattoos, we were viewed in such a way. Our clientelle was very limited because of that...riff raff, bikers, convicts, drunk military people.
The thing is, people have very recently accepted that for the most part tattooists are a pretty professional bunch of people. I have hausfraus bringing their kids in for tattoos and slapping the Gold Card on my counter. They do that because tattooing has managed to become somewhat respectable. If they had to wade through a bunch of drunk bikers to get to me, how many people like that do you think would show up? These people understand the possible dangers, and a professional appearance helps to make them feel confident they are not putting themselves in danger. And trust me...from a purely business standpoint, I'd rather have mom and her Gold Card than a bunch of stinking, squirming drunks, ANY DAY! So, yea...I do concern myself with image to that extent.
There are certain business that do not mix well, in my opinion. Bars, head shops, and tattooing already have enough problems when they are seperate from one another. Mixing them is a recipe for disaster. |

Granted, I agree wth you about the image change and I'm glad that tattoos aren't only found on the scuz crowd, and I've been instrumental in getting some very professional types into getting their very own tattoos.
But, STILL, y'all missing the point----Baix Tattoo shop on Sint Maarten is CLEAN, she does good work, and the shop is closed at 5:00 PM (so there isn't a bunch of drunken bikers partying or sloshing alcohol around the artist's work area. Can we just focus on the fact that there is a GOOD, CLEAN shop on Sint Maarten!!!
Thanks. |
