I'm planning on getting my first tattoo in about a month or so and I've almost come to a conclusion on what i want to get but before i make my decision I have one question: If there is a lot of color in the design, number one will it hurt more(if i have a black outline and color on the inside), number two is it a lot more expensive? I want the tattoo to be about 2 inches height-wise can any one help me prices....maybe?
Any help is appreciated...Thanks.

Color doesn't hurt anymore then black.
2" tattoo is SMALL!!! 50 dollar minimum for tattoos. If you want a DOT, it'll still be 50 bucks at least.

the only reason ppl will say that color hurts more... in my opinion, it the fact of, by the time the color is being done, the outline is just becoming tender, and the color just irritates it more by having to go really close to an already sore spot...

i had heard that lighter colors hurt more, like yellow and white. but i wouldn't know, none of my tattoos have color. sorry...
There is nothing in the color to make it hurt more or less. The needle configurations may be different and therefore cause a different sensation. The normal thing is for the outline to hurt a bit more than the color, because the needles hit in a smaller area, and therefore concentrate the sensation in one small spot.

Not to pass judgment, but it is more of a femanine tattoo. A traditional kanji outlined in black with a rainbow inside it the size of a, let say a silver dollar, would cost @ $50-$100 depending on the quality of the artist. The price could end up being more depending on the placement on the body.
I ve had a few tattoos done in various studios all over europe - 2 things:
no matter whcih colour, pain is no different ,
outlines seem to hurt me a bit more - but BadWolf explained why
and I ve never heard that an artist would charge you a different price for different locations
so, get your design, choose your artist carefully and get it !

I do. Neck & stomach tattoos are more difficult areas to work on, hence the higher price.

Hell Yeah! Neck, Stomach, and Ribs all get a higher price. and if you're a big person and want a tattoo on some rolls-expect the price to go up too!
My mentor charges more for chests, simply beause he says that they're hard to get at and he doesn't like to do them. He also tends to modify price based on the clients build, because of it being harder to work on more ample folks.
